Ready for a ton of energy, colour and fun? Let’s dive on into Charlie and Ben’s bright yellow and orange wedding then shall we?
Charlie and Ben held their wedding reception at The Bridal Barn in Shropshire in the Spring. They really made sure their personalities shone through, with country music, breakdancing and outdoorsy elements to represent their love of outdoor adventuring.
I really adore the gorgeous outfits, awesome blooms and the lovely little woodland touches. So beautiful!
Bohemian Rose Photography thank you so much for sharing these absolutely delightful images with us.
As an adventurous couple, we did what we do best and had a weekend away exploring the wilderness.
Ben took Charlie horse riding and then visited the green bride of Wales where Ben proposed on top of the cliff edge, it was a remote location with just the 3 of us, Charlie, Ben and their German shepherd Max.
After the proposal, we went to the blue lagoon in Wales and celebrated with some cliff jumping. We had a small engagement party with our immediate family where we played sports in the garden and ate lots of homemade cake.
Homely, fun and simple… just exactly what we wanted.
We knew straight away we wanted a wedding which incorporated the outdoors. After all, we spend most of our time outside with our dog and it was really important that our guests felt relaxed and had a great time.
We visited The Bridal Barn and knew straight away it was the venue for us, the woodlands and fire pits really mirrored us as a couple. We spend a lot of time camping and Ben is a B-boy (breakdancer) so the combination of a tipi and a dance floor was unquestionable, it allowed us to personalise our day, even more, when we performed our first dance to James Brown in trainers and tracksuits.
Our vision was to have a bright wedding so the spring vibe with yellow and orange flowers really fulfilled this.
As always we love an element of fun so we had to create an Easter egg hunt for all our guests! Our highlight was watching all of our guests on the evening, everyone was huddled round the fire with blankets laughing and smiling. To us we knew we had created the perfect wedding.

Our ceremony was in a quaint church and my entrance movie was Luke Combs – Beautiful Crazy. Country music is our favourite and we used to listen to Luke Combs a lot when working on a cattle station in Australia so again it just felt so right for us to have this song.
Our first dance was to Dan and Shay – All To Myself. Again another country classic, our 2nd first dance was to James Brown – Wanna Get Up. Our guests loved watching us breakdance!
The bride’s dress was an Essense of Australia brand. Immediately the name drew my attention because me and Ben went travelling around Australia a few years ago and it’s been a big part of our relationship so I felt a connection towards the dress.
I wanted something that hugged my figure and wasn’t too big as I’m a small bride. This particular dress has a mixture of plain and embellishment which was utterly perfect. I think the train really set the dress off.
Ben went for a tweed suit as it matched the country and nature vibe we were going for. It was a softer fabric so Ben could perform all his dance moves!
All created by the bride herself including flowers from Ginger Lily. The place names were created by Charlie by hand using a blend of paints and calligraphy pens.
I had a vision of what I wanted and with the help of my sister in law we were able to use all homegrown flowers and pampas grass to bring the venue to light. I created my own table names and table plan all relating to woodland creatures.

We had our first honeymoon in Scotland staying in a log cabin. We took Max our dog with us and explored the highlands. In true Ben and Charlie fashion we went searching for Deer Antlers and booked some more epic adventures such as kayaking.
As we postponed our wedding once we felt it was only fair to book two honeymoons and we are due to travel to Canada in the Summer for another adventure-filled holiday, horse riding through the Rockies and searching for Elk and Moose.
The most memorable moment for us was for sure lighting the smoke flares in the forest and just dancing with our closest friends. We just felt so free being able to have fun and relax.
Our second favourite memory was when bens friends picked us both up on the dance floor and everybody danced around us. Our wedding was about creating quality memories with our closest family and friends which sure happened!
The only advice I would give to other couples is honestly create decisions that are for YOU!
if you want a wedding in a forest with a fire pit and blankets then do it… we had everything we wanted at our wedding and we don’t regret a thing.
Lots of our friends told us to make time for one another too, the day does go by really fast and we’re happy we got to spend most of it together.
How very beautiful!
Charlie and Ben thanks ever so much for sharing your yellow and orange wedding story with us.
