I have made no secret of the fact I love an Italian wedding, and today we have a truly gorgeous Tuscan treat for you to indulge in.
Claire and Ed were married in May 2017 at the lovely Villa Borgo i Vicelli, embracing the late-spring sunshine with their bright colour scheme and outdoor celebration. The colours really are striking, and I love the use of daisies and sunflowers, which compliment the groomsmen’s ties and invite the rolling countryside in. Their flower girl also has the most fabulous daisy-crown, and be sure to look out for Claire and Ed’s tiny son who makes a beaming guest appearance.
What I really love about this celebration is that it is simple, rustic, and intimate – it also has the most to-die-for and enormous Italian wedding dessert-cake!
Photographer Nataly Montanari not only takes gorgeous photographs but also writes beautifully about the whole day, and all the delights you can look out for, so read on!
FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER | When we first met Claire & Ed they stood out immediately as a genuinely sweet and caring couple, that soon became a devoted mother and father. On their wedding day, Claire & Ed’s infant son carried a sign down the aisle that read “daddy here comes mommy”. This sweet and attentive mother and father could not have been happier to have their son with them on this special day. We worked closely with them and bonded quickly while helping them to realize the wedding they had always envisioned.
The venue space at Borgo I Vicelli was covered in bright yellow sunflowers and rustic charming elements. The couple wanted to create an intimate atmosphere for their guests and emphasized that their day was a celebration of the joining of two families. In their ceremony area, a sign read ” please choose a seat, and not a side”. The close love and support between Ed & Claire’s family was warm and full in celebration of their union. As a couple of diverse cultural background, Claire being Irish, and Ed from the UK, they were set on their destination wedding being in Italy, in the Tuscan countryside.
Claire wore an A-line dress with lace detailing, an open back, and a veil with a long train that trailed behind her on the grass as she walked down the aisle. The bridesmaids, dressed in long flowy navy gowns, held bouquets of bright yellow sunflowers, the same ones that ornamented the entire venue. Specks of bright sunny yellow were carried throughout the invitations, to the groomsmen’s boutannieres, the tables, and the bride’s own bouquet.
With a loving family newly created, and their I-Dos said in the Tuscan hillsides, Claire & Ed happily danced the night away to a mix of DJ playlists and traditional Irish dance songs to celebrate their day in the most comfortable and fun way that they had always wanted to. They set up photo booth stations using hanging frames from the trees and pulled props out of an old style suitcase as they let loose and laughed at the silly pictures their guests were taking.
Claire & Ed’s wedding is a perfect example of the romance and rustic simplicity of marrying abroad in Tuscany. As devoted parents and a charming couple, Claire & Ed’s wedding was an intimate and perfect picture of happiness and unity.
