The most breathtaking wilderness wedding ideas shoot for you today folks, courtesy of Finn and the Fox Photography and Feather and Fawn, as well as a whole host of very talented wedding suppliers. Deep in the Devon countryside, we find a couple in the woodland, making their vows to one another against a striking flower arch. They then cosy up around a fire pit in boho style peacock chairs adorned with flowers.
Earth tones are used throughout for a really modern vibe. I love the use of elements from the earth, wind, water and fire, it created some stunning styling and inspirational ideas. There was elegant stationery teamed with stylish attire, fun accessories and a stunning cake. Every little detail too was so thoughtful, all being both vegan and animal friendly. Wow!
Bohemian Wilderness
The concept of this vegan boho shoot was to capture the spirit of nature in a wilderness setting. Shot amongst the rustic grounds of Stafford Barton Estate in North Devon, which prides itself on being a wildlife haven where all hunting and shooting is strictly prohibited. The land is left to be wild, completely isolated and immersed in nature – it was the perfect location.
The design and styling of the shoot was inspired by the four natural elements – Earth, Wind, Fire and Water, using a neutral earthy colour palette of beige, browns and taupes throughout.
The florals featured David Austen and Lady Lindsay roses, beautifully enhanced by a mix of textured greenery and dried pampas grass. We added some ethically sourced feathers from the venue’s own peacocks, to encapsulate the wind element. Stafford Barton also provided some incredible antlers which are collected from the grounds every spring as they are shed by the wild stags.
Being a cruelty-free shoot, with a vegan Bride and Groom, every detail had to be considered. With all materials being synthetic from the clothing to the decor fabrics, sourcing was vital. Sam’s attire gave a “country meets edgy” look and a corduroy jacket was a great replacement for a wool suit. Olivia’s boho style Shikoba gowns were accompanied by feather accessories from Vera Black and Phat Feathers, which both use cruelty free feathers to design pieces unique to their own brands.
For the tablescape we used plenty of natural materials, such as clay, wood and stone, paired with beaded glassware and beautifully crafted bohemian stationery to create a more elegant look. The place settings were finished with crystals as the guest favours to really embrace the essence of the Earth. The table was situated on the very edge of the lake to incorporate the water element, which made for a stunning backdrop. We decided to make a feature out of the gorgeous vegan cake by placing it on a fabric draped raft and floating it in the centre of the lake. When the sun started to set, it reflected off of the water and gave Hannah some truly spectacular shots.
Incorporating the fire element was not without its challenges especially in a forest setting. Plenty of water had to be kept on standby but luckily the result was worth it! We accompanied the statement peacock chairs, in the couples’ intimate chill out area, with a rustic chandelier hanging in the trees and a cosy fire pit. The ceremony was shot in the depths of the dark forest with a tree canopy so dense that it only allowed a small slither of sunlight to beam through the trees. The aisle was lined with flaming fire logs and the warm glow of the flames, along with the smoke, added a dramatic yet romantic atmosphere.
Finally, an animal-friendly shoot wouldn’t have been complete without a handsome Clydesdale horse to carry the bride! Chancellor brought a whole new dynamic to the shoot and thrived on stealing the show. Ridden in a rope halter to avoid the use of leather, Mind Art Visuals captured some amazing drone footage of the bride galloping along the lakeside – freedom in the wild!
The overall style of the shoot is moody and mysterious whilst being whimsical and romantic. A dream for bohemian animal lovers that have a passion for nature.
