Whimsical Multicoloured + Mismatched Country Wedding {2}

And good afternoon {www}ers… it’s so nearly the weekend yippeeeee!! I am sat here buzzing at the response of the new {www} community. If you haven’t left a comment.. do go now and answer my little question.. we have had a real giggle this morning… thanks guys!! Before you log off and leave your desk take a look at this little beauty of a wedding.

{www} reader Tina created a whimsical wonderland… full of mismatched pretty. Gorgeous colourful blooms, a stunning cake table, bunting, those mismatched napkins {remind me of the {www} inspiration shoot!} and that table plan. Wedded perfection….

Thanks so much again to Darren Cresswell Photography for sharing his images today…..

Your Photographer….

The incredible Darren Cresswell. He had actually photographed a friend of a friends wedding previously as well as a lady my mum works with so I had a sneaky peak at their wedding photos. They were incredible. He came to discuss the photos at our home and we knew after the first meeting he was the man for the job so booked him straight away! He was so lovely and his relaxed nature to photographing our day has made for some amazing natural photographs. We knew we wanted more off the cuff photos rather than the traditional staged photography again to keep our day relaxed and casual, and he certainly captured the exact feel of the day in some incredible shots, he really is a very talented man!

We also had the day filmed by Shutterbox Films, Originally we were reluctant to have it filmed, but following the recommendation of a friend who said it was one of the best things she had spent her money on, we searched for a videographer that was able to offer a more modern approach to filming our day. We met Lee at his offices in Birmingham and immediately knew he understood our ideas and after seeing some of his work we knew it was defiantly the type look we wanted. We haven’t been disappointed. The short clip we have seen so far is just amazing! Lee and his wife Dawn were not only a pleasure to have there on the day, but captured moments we didn’t notice or remember, we are so excited to see the full version.

The Cake…

The cake was the creation of Sweet Disposition, a very talented lady named Charlotte Baker (the name says it all!!) I used to work with Charlotte so had sampled her beautiful cakes many a time at work, but again, I never imagined they would look so amazing. Ellie added some flowers into the mix and the whole table looked incredible! We had Cupcakes, each with individual toppings of iced flowers, a plain cake for cutting on a beautiful duck egg blue cake stand again with polka dot ribbon tied around the base and an incredible array of blue iced cake pops with pink little ribbons around the sticks. The whole lot was gone in a matter of minutes once we cut the cake! Everyone has commented on how good the cakes were!!

The Details + Decor….

It was most certainly all about the detail and I knew I wanted mix match bunting, so I ordered some fabrics from China, random patterns of stripes, polka dots and florals in all sorts of ‘ice cream’ shade colours and my Mums best friend kindly offered to make it for us. As I had ordered so much fabric, she also made personalized napkins for our tables, each one was decorated differently, and they were simply beautiful. With still more fabric left, I wrapped each of our favours of miniature jam jar lids in the same fabrics and tied them with little bows (jam was used as favours as there is a little family joke related to this!!). The place names where again mix match floral printed card which I made into little luggage tags, all different shapes and sizes and spent hours individually stamping everyone’s names onto each card. We stuck with first names as we had addressed all of our invites by first names and nick names to give it more of a relaxed feel, we knew everyone there so didn’t feel we needed to address everyone by their full name! The table names were the road names for the directions to West Runton beach (and a few others in the area as we ran out!!)

The Flowers…

The flowers were by the extremely talented and wonderful Eleanor Clarke who again was recommended by Alrewas. She blew every expectation I had about the flowers. I’d told her what look I was after and she immediately grasped the idea from the first meeting. But when I saw what she had done, it was just out of this world! She’d taken my imagine and run away with it, it was truly fantastic and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank her enough for all the effort and time she took over them.

I had all sorts! I kept my bouquet and my bridesmaid’s bouquets quite simple, just plain balls of peonies- mine and the little bridesmaid were tied with polka dot ribbon which matched Scotts button hole. The table flowers and centre pieces where an array of beautiful colours and all different types of flowers. They were simply stunning.

Memorable moments…

Were do we start!!? Me wailing down the aisle and crying throughout the ceremony, and most of the day for that matter! The moment during Scotts speech when he was speaking about his late mother and my mum and I both grabbed his leg much to his surprise! The embarrassing best mans speech which embarrassed me more than Scott!! Crawling through a field for photographs, which looked incredible! The singing waiters which were out of this world and had everyone waving napkins in the air! The 3 months of dance lessons for the first dance which paid off but had our teaching in a fit of nerves! But the best part was when Scott informed me in a whisper during the ceremony that my eyelash was hanging off….just gorgeous!!

Our guests have all commented on how amazing the ice cream tricycle was and also they loved the singing waiters!

Advice for other couples…

Go with your instinct! Many of our suppliers (I hate that word as many of them became friends!!) were booked instantly as we knew they were so right, as long as they are within budget there’s no point in searching the web for something better, if you have to then they weren’t right in the first place!!

Invest in a great photographer! The photos will be with you forever and will make the memories last a lifetime.

Get it filmed! We weren’t keen on having the day filmed! But I have to say although I’ve so far only seen a snippet of the footage, its incredible! There are some fantastic videographers (or cinematography as its now called apparently!) out there and when we met Lee from Shutterbox we knew it wasn’t going to be the soppy type wedding films of days of old, and weren’t disappointed! They were great to work with and captured so many bits that we just didn’t see! our photographer also!

Take it all in! Everyone says this but the day really does go so so fast, so take a moment to take it all in and see everyone’s faces and chat to all your guests and take time just the two of you to realize how amazing it all is! It really is the best feeling in the world!

The Honeymoon….

We went to Aruba! Scott chose the honeymoon location and it was out of this world! Such a beautiful place! Full of the South American carnival vibe, with pretty coloured houses and buildings. It was a perfect 2 weeks of relaxation, with as much or as little as you wanted to do.

Thanks so much to Tina and Scott for sharing their perfectly whimsy wedding day with us today…. i so so adore it, what did you like best? xoxo
