I am not ashamed to admit that I am a big Twilight fan, of the novels in particular. So when I saw Julia and Chris’ Twilight inspired enchanted woodland reception décor I was smitten.
Julia and Chris were married on the 11th April 2015 and hosted their wedding celebrations at the Mottram Hall Hotel in Cheshire. With a whimsical yet glamorous vibe they chose the most beautiful of elements for their wedding.
Julia’s dress was out of this world beautiful, donning ‘Cherish’ by Suzanne Neville, Emmy accessories and Stephanie Browne at Liberty in Love earrings she looked divine. Chris and the boys were suited and booted in vintage inspired Jack Bunneys suits.
The blooms are definitely perfect for your pretty pinterest boards and be sure to make note of Julia’s wedding morning attire. Wow.
Thanks so much to Tracy Weston Photography for sharing these wonderful images with us.
THE PROPOSAL | Chris proposed in August 2013 while on holiday in Turkey. Chris said afterwards that he had been trying to find the perfect moment all holiday and in the end got down on one knee after dinner towards the end of the week during a moonlit stroll. I couldn’t even wait for him to put the ring on my finger – I took it off him and did it myself after waiting 6 years for his proposal!!
THE VISION | We wanted to have a vintage/glamorous/whimsical vibe. For our reception venue was an enchanted woodland feel, with inspiration from Twilight!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | With Chris working on the 2015 rugby World Cup in the autumn we decided on a spring wedding giving us a year and a half to plan our big day. We worked well as a team to plan with me deciding how I wanted it to look and making it pretty (now addicted to Pinterest) and Chris being super organised with his very detailed spreadsheet! Chris earned himself the title of groomzilla for his involvement in the planning process!!
THE VENUE | St James the great church, Gawsworth and Mottram Hall Hotel, Cheshire.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress – ‘Cherish’ by Suzanne Neville. Veil – borrowed from my sister as my something old and borrowed, with some blue stitches added by my maid of honour. Shoes and headband – Emmy. Earrings – Stephanie Browne at Liberty in Love.
FINDING THE DRESS | I always had in my head that I wanted a Disney princess dress, this was the part I was most excited about! I tried on every style of dress imaginable, soaking up the whole experience! But I found that in a lot of them I felt like I was wearing fancy dress and that it made me feel and look too old. My mum saw a picture of the dress that I eventually went with and made an appointment at Suzanne Neville in Wilmslow. I fell in love and the deal was done!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | The boys decided on a vintage blue 3 piece suit from Jack Bunneys. Shoes from Churches, ties and pocket squares Mrs Bow Tie. Shirts and socks Thomas Pink.
READINGS & MUSIC | Corinthians 1:13 and a quote from ‘The Bridge Across Forever’ that we thought reflected how we felt. In the church we had a harpist, Oona Linnet, who played me down the aisle to Pachelbels Canon, and also during the signing of the register and in the drinks reception. Chris made a play list for during the reception dinner and for the evening music we had vintage 5 piece band called Victoriana, who had a Mumford and Sons vibe (basically a banjo!) who were amazing and had everyone up dancing all night long. I only regained feeling in my toes about a week later!
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My sister was maid of honour, along with her daughter (my niece), my cousin and Chris’ sister. They wore dresses from Coast with their own shoes and carried miniature versions of my bouquet.
THE FLOWERS | Victoria Frith at Red Floral Architecture. Vicky did such an amazing job with the flowers and dressing the venue. After our initial meeting I knew she got my vision and completely trusted her. We were blown away by the result which was more beautiful than I could ever have imagined.
THE CAKE | The Fine Cake Company, Disley. We didn’t want a traditional style fruit cake so we decided on a 3 tier sponge cake with a jam and cream filling, covered in butter cream icing.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Tracy Weston Photography. It was so lovely to have a friend taking our photographs, it made us much more relaxed and she did an amazing job of capturing moments and details of the day.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The theme for our décor was bringing the outdoors in with an ‘enchanted fairytale forest’ full of pretty spring flowers, blossom trees, an eclectic mixture of glass votives, cloches, moss and logs with lots of tea lights to create a magical glow. We also had light up ‘love’ lettering for the dance floor to make a focal point. For favours we had fudge made by a friend of mine who runs The Little Lemon Bakery and a sweetie table for young (and some not so young!) guests. As it was the grand national in the afternoon we got betting slips for all the guests and watched the race during the drinks reception. We also had a vintage bus to take the guests to and from the church.
THE HONEYMOON | 5 days at Palazzo Avino, Ravello, Italy. A magical place in the clouds, with great food and wonderful staff.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was so perfect from a great church service with a rather eccentric bishop, entering the reception room for the first time and seeing how beautiful it was, an impromptu rendition of ‘Let It Go’ from me and my new husband (I knew I married him for a reason!) to dancing the night away and ending on a high with an amazing rendition of Mumford and Sons “I Will Wait” by the band.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try to find a little bit of time with just you and your new husband/wife as the day can be very full on. We took half an hour after finishing the wedding breakfast and it was great to let it all sink in and have some time alone together.
