I love the classical and pretty feel to these whimsical and elegant wedding ideas today. They are brought to us by a superbly talented team of wedding professionals, with Love From Mwai the creative director, planner and stylist and Mandorla London the art director and photographer behind these stunning captures.
Hold on for so many wedding ideas, all very stylish; think ethereal gowns, dreamy opulent blooms, striking cakes, delicate accessories and a candlelit table come evening. It’s all just so splendidly chic, I especially love the hair and make up styles, the flower arch backdrop to the ceremony and the bountiful bouquets. I defy you not to love it all.
Whimsical Elegant Wedding Ideas
Dreamy Debutant Meets Alice — A painting comes to life.
When you enter Grace Hall you find a kind of serenity that’s a dramatic contrast to the bustle of the city outside. The architectural elegance of this Neo-Classical Hall boasts a graceful calm we wanted to shine through.
For this editorial shoot, our idea was to present a dreamy and yet traditional concept. Our muse was a marrying of two characters—the magical character Alice in Wonderland meets that of the society women immortalized within the portraits painted by John Singer Sargent with their prim, lush and shadowy essence. The mix of tradition and something a little different was important for this venue. The abundance of natural light in the Directors Observatory and the billowing cloud wallpaper got our creative juices flowing.
Each of the four unique spaces within Grace Hall allowed us to work with different moods, reflecting different moments of a wedding day. The sweeping scale of the main hall with classical columns lent a sense of romantic grandeur which contrasts with the more intimate spaces of the dreamy Directors Observatory, The Archives, and the hidden gem that is Grace Below’s intimate dining space.
When it came to the fashion for our brides, we were over the moon to work with Naomi Neoh’s stunning gowns. They have just the right balance of being a statement dress mixed with the pretty and feminine detailing we were looking for. Freya Rose’s shoes added just the right amount of sparkle to shine amongst the shadows. Eden B’s exquisite accessories and veils finished the looks with an elegant confidence.
The beauty of Grace Hall stops you in your tracks. Each space has a different possibility and for a venue that you can have your ceremony and reception within, this is very important. Our vision was to showcase how you can take your guests on a multi-faceted, multi-space journey that keeps them guessing and adds curiosity and surprise. This “what’s-around-the-next-bend” kind of experience makes for a memorable occasion that guests will remember and we wanted to give brides inspiration for pulling that off.
Because the location spans so many rooms, we needed to bring together a crack team of florists. Their work surpassed expectations and brought the rooms to life with diverse floral elegance. We wanted the flowers to be expressive, natural and not to “done-up.” Even though we were working in the deepest of winter, the florists managed to bring echoes of spring and vibrancy with a light and soft colour palette.
