Wedding Venues in County Durham
Both Runa Farm and Whitworth Estate & Deer Park are being brought to life by the creators behind two of the UK’s premier, multi-award award-winning wedding venues; Newton Hall and Le Petit Chateau. We have featured both Newton Hall and Le Petit Chateau many times over the years on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and you can be assured you will be in safe hands for your big day. Not to mention gorgeous surroundings, stylish interiors and top notch service from their teams. So it’s really very exciting to hear all about these new and really wonderful wedding venues.
Advocates of creativity, our experienced and enthusiastic team will assist couples in realising their individual big day vision in line with our all-important Two Point Wedding Promise:
1. It’s your day so have it entirely your way
2. Whatever you choose, we will ensure that it’s all wrapped up in a big bundle of fun
Armed with the crème de la crème of industry professionals and possessing numerous wedding awards, brides and grooms can be sure of speedy and attentive service throughout; from the early plans to the celebrations themselves, with the Master of Ceremonies even acting as their own personal butler on the day of the wedding.
Runa Farm, is an intensely rustic inspired hotel, country pub and wedding venue quite unlike any other, combining natural rural beauty with cool Balearic vibes to deliver something wholly unique, as its guests will discover…
In brief, it was our plan to create an individual and special destination for “boho, honest and earthy” experiences with the farm and its produce at the very heart.
The result is a loveable, laid-back and luxurious County Durham country retreat complete with stand out spaces and suites, cool glamping and field-to-fork dining, inviting people to gather, feast, stay, and enjoy every element of its feel good spirit and endless appeal.
Runa (ru-na) – “The bridging of two worlds”
I have to say that Runa Farm really looks set to be very special indeed; think Spanish influences, a focus on outdoor farm life and incredible cuisine. There are opportunities for both indoor and outdoor locations, both for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The Runa Farm Chapel is magical and rustic, perfect for whimsical vibes and the The Old Barn syncs in perfect cohesion for the big party.
Of course, life on the farm is all about the outdoors, and so we love to share more of the estate’s natural beauty with our marrying couples by offering an abundance of opportunities to introduce alfresco elements to the celebrations; from welcome drinks in the meadow, private dining the night before on the terrace, pizza slices in the kitchen garden, or fabulous feasts served up from our impressive outdoor kitchen.
Brides and grooms can even take their ‘I dos’ outdoors – and open-air wedding ceremonies don’t get any more romantically unique than what Runa Farm has to offer. Choose between getting married in front of an ancient bell tower that chimes on your arrival or have a wonderfully offbeat ceremony set against a backdrop of a wild meadow, with vintage tractor and goat tower!
It’s wonderful to hear that a lot of thought and love has gone into the food and drink at Runa Farm, with food sourced from kitchen garden and local producers not to mention the outdoor outdoor courtyard kitchen complete with rotisserie and grill and the wood fired pizza oven for al fresco feasting. Delicious!
Ibiza inspired décor in the farmhouse provides the perfect retreat for guests and the happy couple themselves both before and after the wedding. There is also the option for glamping guaranteeing a chilled and fun atmosphere. Hot tubs, views to die for and even private gardens, it’s not just the wedding day itself that will feel like pure luxury folks.
The outdoor adventure doesn’t end there though, with fire pits, wildflower meadow, stable yard with bell tower, ponies for petting, alpacas for posing, sheep, pigs, pigmy goats, a deer named Dottie and treasured pets are also welcome along. Hooray! This makes the venue perfect for festival vibe celebrations and all suited to your budget too.
