Stunning Elegance for A Vintage Blogger Bride ~ Part 1

I just adore submissions for this very reason, especially from a gorgeous and excited newly wed :-) Angie is actually a vintage blogger and has just launched a party supplies company specialising in vintage pieces and home made details. So you can imagine that her big day was pretty spectacular, and that it was!!

Angie and Danny were married in September this year at the gorgeous Broad House Hotel in Norfolk. Angie looks stunning in Jenny Packham, i love her vintage style make up, and those gloves are incredible… l.o.v.e. The hanging lanterns at the ceremony look divine and i just swoon over those beautiful blooms.

The fabulous photography is by Norfolk wedding photographer, Chris Taylor Photo, thanks so much to Chris for letting me use his work today. I shall leave you now with Angie’s description of her beautiful wedding day;

The Proposal….

My new husband Danny proposed on top of a Skyscraper in Bangkok restaurant whilst we were on holiday in December last year. It is a hot spot for engagements given its out of this world setting, 65 floors above ground. I said yes before I even opened the ring box and was so shocked when I did as Danny had gone to the trouble of designing a ring especially for me and commissioning a specialist to make it. It is a beautiful vintage style flower design made of diamonds and sapphires. It is so different to anything else I had seen, it made it even more mind blowing that he went to all that trouble.

The Vision for the day….

We had been to a few friend’s weddings recently and wanted somewhere that felt intimate, where we could have everyone in one place for the whole day but also somewhere that people could be entertained and explore. I knew that I would want to add personal details either handmade or repurposed vintage items and I set up my blog vintagestylebible.co.uk to document my findings and musings.

My headdress was Jenny Packham as I couldn’t find anything as good a quality that was light enough to wear all day. I said I would sell it on but can’t bear to part with it at the moment. My vintage style earings are from Glitzy Secrets and my bracelet is a find from Accessorize. My gloves were adapted by a friend from long opera gloves.

I wanted to go for vintage style eyes so my make up artist created flicks in the corners and I went for a neutral MAC lipstick in patisserie as I am not used to wearing lippy and Danny hates it!

Beautiful bridesmaids…..

The bridesmaids above wore dresses chosen and designed between us through a lady in Sussex at Courtesan Boutique. They are extremely reasonable prices, cheaper than the High Street and the designs completely tailored to our needs (we had to order 6 months before when Mia’s bump wasn’t showing at all and luckily it fitted!) It meant the girls could choose what they wanted as well. My flower girl Scarlett, my cousin, was dressed in a Ben di Lissi dress and handmade shoes by a family friend.

The Planning process….

We didn’t see the point in waiting and both of us being super organised in nature we decided on September 2010, leaving us 9 months to plan. It did mean that quite a few of our friends and family had already committed to other people’s wedding invitations or were out of the country but the most important people were there so although it was a shame it meant our budget was a little less stretched.

The Dress….

My dress was ‘Sabine’ by Jenny Packham. I saw it on the website and immediately knew I had to try it. I didn’t foresee the compliments of being ‘brave’ and ‘daring’ which I got at the wedding, I actually felt very comfortable at the fittings and wanted to wear something that I wouldn’t usually be able to. I can see know from some of the photos that it might have looked a bit risky but it was worth it!

The Ceremony Readings + Music….

We had a very talented pianist Matt Hodges who played the ceremony music and with the jazz band afterwards. Our entrance music was Desree Kissing You piano solo, with tunes by Stevie Wonder during the ceremony and It must be love by Madness for the exit music.

My glowing pregnant maid of honour Mia read a poem she wrote about superheros, the last weepy line being ‘Our super human powers, are being man and wife’.

My sister, my other bridesmaid read lyrics from a song by Prince called ‘Adore’ that was adapted into a poem.

The Suit….
Danny had originally wanted a dark purple velvet suit. It took a few weeks of funny looks and jokes about Austin Powers and pimps to change his mind. Danny chose a tailored light blue 3 piece suit from Marc Jacobs.

Be sure to stop by later for part 2. :-)
