Happy Monday folks, I hope you had a good weekend? I am over the moon to be beginning the week with a spectacular Scotland elopement, it really is breathtakingly beautiful.
Ilya and Kamilla eloped from Russia for their Thirlestane Castle wedding, where they had a hand fasting humanist wedding ceremony outdoors on the 13th August 2020. COVID-19 delayed their elopement plans, but after rescheduling their date from May to August everything went without a hitch.
I just adore these dreamy and intimate shots by Bernadeta Kupiec Photography, they really are so special. You can just feel the love and romance oozing from these photographs. Let’s not forget to mention how amazing Ilya and Kamilla looked, hello sparkly tulle gown and camel suit. Wow.
Thirlestane Castle Wedding
The Proposal
5 years into our relationship when visiting the ancient city of Hampi in India, Kamilla found herself on a beautiful hill with spectacular views of the highest temple in the city. And according to Indian Mythology, it is said the hill is the scared site where Shiva married Parvati. Perhaps being inspired by Parvati who is the recreative energy and power of Shiva, and who symbolizes the bond that connects all beings and their spiritual release, Kamila found herself being presented with the most beautiful, dazzling red Ruby and I asked for her hand in marriage.
The Planning Process
The planning process was burdened with the coronavirus, so we had to reschedule the wedding from May to August. Overall, it was not difficult. We almost immediately fell in love with the castle and with Bernadeta’s photographs.
The Venue
Kamilla dreamed of a Scottish castle wedding, and Thirlestane Castle met her expectations as much as possible.
Beauty
Kamilla did her make up by herself. She was practising for a long time before the wedding day.
Your Outfits & Accessories
Kamilla made her dress to order, and I just chose a suit in the online store. It’s amazing that it immediately suited me.
Kamilla’s wedding dress: Tatiana Kaplun.
Ilya’s suit: Twisted Tailor.
The Flowers
Flowers made by The Flower Room – Kelso.
Your Photographer
We like her romantic and natural style and when we saw her pictures we knew that we would like her to be our photographer on our elopement.
The Honeymoon
Our honeymoon took place in London. We were impressed by this beautiful city and its history. The only thing we regret a little was that we didn’t spend it in Scotland.
Memorable Moments
Morning wedding preparation, ceremony, photo session, and castle tour – all these moments are equally beautiful!
Advice For Other Couples
If you have decided to have your wedding in Scotland, then you have made the right choice. Don’t forget about your umbrella and be happy.
