Goodness me are you in for a treat today folks, the perfect way to kick start the week and a new month! Here we have WWW readers Ant and Kloe with their relaxed boho style summer wedding held on Saturday 21st July 2018 at Alveston Pastures Farm in Warwickshire. Being teachers living in Dubai meant that wedding planning was a little trickier, but their loved ones were all on hand to help and what a celebration they pulled off. Their vision was to host a wedding which was fun and relaxed and by the looks of things everyone had a right roaring time.
First off our pair were hitched in an outdoor ceremony by a close family friend, which made it all the more personal. The set up really was extraordinary, with a Persian rug aisle, candles in lanterns and a show stopping floral backdrop complete with dream catcher – bohemian beautiful! I am in love. Not to mention family dog Snoop acting as the ring bearer, too cute!
Next up I just have to talk attire. Why? Well when you clap eyes on the mismatched white bridesmaids dresses, flower crowns, fit and flare strapless bridal gown and dapper gents suits, you are going to fall hard. The stunning images are courtesy of A Little Picture, which we are so thankful to be sharing, keep your eyes peeled for sunset and smoke bomb portraits galore!
Ant and I are both primary school teachers so during our half term break Ant had planned a surprise trip to Barcelona for me. My best friend Sarah had recently moved out there with her boyfriend Adam, however Ant told me that they were seeing family in a different part of Spain the same week we were there. The first night we arrived Ant took me to the Magic fountain (which to Ant’s disappointment was actually switched off for the winter months) but still had the most beautiful views of the city. We watched the sun set whilst drinking some fizz then he took me to a bench where nobody was around and handed me a book full of photos and hilarious captions of our years together. After the rollercoaster of laughter and tears Ant knelt on one knee and asked me to marry him with the most perfect ring he had designed himself. I didn’t think it could get any better, but the next morning we went for breakfast at a cafe Sarah and Adam had recommended to Ant. I was so overwhelmed when they walked in, it made the week even more special.
A relaxed, outdoor, fun celebration focussed on our amazing family and friends. We booked our venue and other suppliers whilst living in Dubai. It was our family who went to view it and fell in love with the freedom that Alveston Pastures Farm offered. Marion the owner of the venue is super flexible and we were able to have control and tailor the day completely as we wanted.
The Planning Process
Was such a team effort! Our family were amazing in helping us book and order everything we needed. As we knew we wanted to make most of the decorations ourselves by hand, being out of the country proved quite difficult as the wedding drew closer. As soon as we broke up from school we were on a flight back to the UK and when we were home everything began to fall into place. We had so many family members and friends helping us and the amount of love and teamwork that went into the whole weekend meant so much to both of us.
As we legally tied the knot months earlier in order to live together in Dubai, we were able to have our ceremony and reception at Alveston Pastures Farm. We completely fell in love with the barn. It was so beautiful and the grounds blew us all away. The maze in the grounds is extremely fun and provided many laughs over the weekend!
The Readings & Music
As we were already legally married prior to the day, we were able to have one of our closest family friends Tracy, lead our ceremony outside in the grounds. We wrote our own vows to each other and a very special moment was when both of our mums read The Art of Marriage by Wilfred A Peterson. We chose Fire in my heart by Super Furry Animals to walk down the aisle to as it’s a special song that both of us and my family love and walking down the aisle with my dad to it was a memory I’ll never forget. We danced back up the aisle to September by Earth, Wind and Fire. For the first dance Ant wanted to do a routine to a mix of our favourite songs, it took a few weeks of practising but was worth it to see the reactions on our loved ones faces. It was definitely one of our favourite moments of the day! We had the Soul Strutters, a funk and soul band from Bristol as our band for the evening who had everybody up dancing.
Your Outfits & Accessories
When home for Christmas I visited Tilly Trotters bridal boutique in Leamington Spa with my mum and sisters. Sian was so friendly and helpful, she picked out a few dresses for me as well as the ones I picked out for myself. The first dress I tried on was one that Sian had picked out for me. It was a Martina Liana dress which was nothing like the dress I imagined myself in. However, after trying on several dresses afterwards including many I thought would fit perfectly with the theme of the wedding, nothing felt as good as the Martina Liana dress! We could not believe it was the first dress I tried on and I am so grateful to Sian for offering her expertise and encouraging me to go for something different. Whilst at my final fitting she also threw out the idea of wearing a veil, which was something I hadn’t thought of wearing. After trying it on, my sisters and I fell in love with it and I am so glad I went for it! I knew I wanted to wear something slightly different for the evening. My sister found the most gorgeous handmade shoulder jewellery by the seller Wildest Dreams Bridal on Etsy.
Ant knew that he wanted a navy, three piece suit and was recommended ASOS suits by a friend. He found exactly what he was looking for and was also pleased to find a Gianni Feraud paisley print tie. His shoes were tan brogues by Base London.
The flowers were from In Bloom, a company that my sister chose for her wedding. Our florist Jen, was so lovely, helpful and patient as I kept changing my mind over which style to go for. Jen suggested we went for a summery mix of delicate meadow flowers, in a just picked style which we absolutely loved. She was amazing on the day dropping off our flower crowns to the hotel and then taking the jam jars to the barn and setting them out on the tables. The flower crowns had a foliage base of rosemary with spray carnations in white, purple limonium, lavender, pink waxflower and a little gypsophila, they were so beautiful, mine is now pressed and in a frame!
The cake was done by The Olivia Rose Cake Company. We found Stina on Instagram, she’s a midwife who has a love for making the most incredible cakes. We are both huge chocolate lovers, so she made the most delicious three tier semi naked chocolate fudge cake and decorated it with real flowers for us. She is amazing!
The most important thing for us was that the girls all felt amazing and loved their dresses. I loved the idea of them all in different styles and for them to choose their own dresses. I originally chose a dusky pink colour however this was quite difficult for the girls to find a dress in the right shade and we didn’t want it to look too mismatched and for them to not stand out as bridesmaids. After looking through Pinterest, we went for white and the girls did such an incredible job at choosing dresses that went with the relaxed theme of the wedding. They looked absolutely beautiful and as my dress was plain, I loved all of the lace and embroidery on their dresses, all from high street shops!
The groomsmen suits were also from ASOS, they do a tall version of the trousers which we were super pleased about as a few of our groomsmen are over 6ft! They wore a navy three piece suit the same as Ant however they wore Gianni Feraud paisley bow ties. Our family dog Snoop, was the ring bearer and also wore a paisley bow tie.
Our photographer was the wonderful Alice from A Little Picture. We found Alice on Instagram and fell in love with her beautifully creative, natural shots. We gave Alice a very brief outline of what we wanted from the day and we were blown away by the way she captured it so perfectly. She is not only a very talented photographer but an extremely kind, helpful and hardworking lady who made our day so special, never have we felt so comfortable in front of a camera! A highlight of the day for us was when Alice told us she had a smoke grenade to get photos with a smoke filled background. It required one of our groomsmen, Rollo to run around in the background off camera and it was absolutely hilarious. We feel so grateful to have had Alice as our photographer and we would recommend her to everybody.
Our videographer was Emma from Daydream Cinematography. Emma is an up and coming videographer that has recently started her own business and we are so pleased that she was able to video our day. She is so passionate, professional and friendly and captured special moments from our day with very little direction from us! She worked so hard and watching the video with our family and friends had us all in tears and took us right back to the day. We feel very lucky to have had Emma and wish her all the luck in the world.
The Details & Décor
We chose the Arden Pig Company as our caterers who were recommended to us by a friend and we loved how relaxed it was as our guests helped themselves to the delicious summer BBQ food. For our evening food we chose the Spectacular Goat company who served tasty wood fired sourdough pizzas from their VW pick up truck in the grounds. Lots of the decorations were handmade by us with help from all of the family, my parents house turned into a wedding warehouse! We also rented some decorations from Naomi Hession from the Hippie Shake on Instagram. We fell in love with her wedding and were so grateful to her as she helped us make our outdoor wedding dream a reality! Inside the barn we had lots of dream catchers, flowers, lanterns and fairy lights and it felt magical.
We feel extremely lucky and we’re unsure how but the day went exactly how we wanted it to, choosing just a few moments is so difficult! Walking down the aisle with my Dad to our favourite song and seeing Ant’s face. Our family friend Tracy leading our ceremony so beautifully. The speeches were incredible and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the barn by the end of them! Surprising everyone with our first dance and dancing the night away to the band with our favourite people.
Advice For Other Couples
Try not to worry or stress about the smaller details, the day is all about you together with your favourite people celebrating your love and that is all that matters! When choosing a dry hire venue, closer to the day there are many smaller jobs that come up. Take family members and friends up on their offer of help, we don’t know how we would have done it without our loved ones help setting up the day before, helping take things to the venue and clearing everything the next day. Last of all, we know everybody says it but enjoy it!! Enjoy the planning and the day as it goes so quickly. Take a moment to just appreciate all of the hard work and love that goes into the day, we wish we could do it all again!
