A Classic Wedding at St Paul’s Cathedral

 St Paul's Cathedral wedding

Henry and Susie were married back in February at the incredible St.Paul’s Cathedral, London. Their wedding wasn’t about the details, but the grandeur of their venues.

St Paul’s is steeped in history, and not many couples get to have their wedding ceremony there, which makes their wedding so special. I love this classic and majestic wedding.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Brett Symes Photography for sharing his natural yet striking images today.

Names…. Henry and Susie

Wedding Date…. 25th February 2012

The Proposal…. On a junk boat cruising through Ha Long Bay in the north of Vietnam (James Bond: The Man with the Golden Gun – Odd job on the boat!).

The Vision for the day…. Finger crossed for sunshine in February and it worked!

The Planning process…. Planning a wedding from Dubai came with its challenges, but thankfully we had amazing family and friends who stepped in to do the bits we couldn’t. The main issue was flowers, you can do most things online but choosing flowers was not one of them!

Budget…. We like to think that we did it within £20-25,000 but I suspect we went way over budget.

The Venue…- Ceremony: St.Paul’s Cathedral, London. Reception: The Farmers Club, Whitehall Court, London

The Dress + Accessories….. The dress was from Pronovios, strapless with a lace finish, long train and sweetheart neckline. I also got a Cathedral length veil, the venue almost dictated it!

Finding the dress…. It was much less stressful than I thought it would be. I tried to find one in Dubai but they were a lot more expensive and the styles were very different to my taste. In the end I had a few hours in London and one wedding dress shop, thankfully I found the perfect dress!

Groom’s attire… Top hat and tails, Custom Made “Blackwatch” Waistcoat from Tom Sawyer

The Readings + Music…. The Apache Marriage Blessing & 1 Corinthians 13

Beautiful bridesmaids….. Debbie Connell – maid of honour, Rebecca Brock, Kate Hopcraft.

The Cake… Three tier chocolate brownie cake with calla lilies from Ely’s Cakes.

Your Photographer…. The Amazing Brett Symes! Seamless. Brett managed to get amazing shots and without getting in the way, we’ve had old friends get back in contact to ask about the photos and at least ten times we’ve been told they’re the best wedding photos they’ve seen. We could not recommend Brett highly enough, he was fantastic to work with and produced stellar results. We’ll definitely be using him for major events in the future.

The Details + Decor…. Not too much to report, we focused on the flowers and the venues speaking for themselves.

The Honeymoon…. Asia Discovery! Singapore, Borneo and Langkawi

Memorable moments… Photo’s on the steps of St Pauls, walking round the corner from the East Crypt Door and a crowd of cheers and applause for us (even the protesters go involved) Walking along the South Bank in a wedding dress!

Advice for other couples… Relax and enjoy the day. After all that planning you deserve a break. Que Sra Sra. Keep looking up during the day, it can be strange to have everyone looking at you so the innate reaction is to look down and miss exciting bits, keep your head up and enjoy the day!
