When things come along and hit us unexpectedly it can have a huge impact on our lives. COVID-19 has been one of the most catastrophic events to happen to the world and it’s turned everything upside down. When it comes to life events and celebrations, it has really put a spanner in the works hasn’t it? Having cancelled my own wedding many years ago I completely empathise with how couples are feeling right now. But from my own experience I know that taking control where you can and having a plan takes away a lot of anxiety and stress. I can’t recommend enough sitting down together and having a conversation where you put a plan in place to avoid the feeling of limbo and not knowing where you are going. For some couples in the UK it may mean that you plough on and have your wedding for 15 guests. For some, it may mean putting the wedding on the back burner until you can have the wedding you originally planned. But it’s also possible to do BOTH! I mean when else are you going to get the excuse to have two wedding days? Oh yes! I guarantee the moment you have a plan of action you are going to feel a hundred times better too. Where am I going with this? Well I really want to shout out about marrying now and partying later, which is just the notion that today’s supremely talented team of weddings suppliers are hoping to inspire today.
Small weddings in the UK can be ever so magical and memorable. Intimate, relaxed, meaningful and oh so chic. This shoot showcases you can have impeccable style at a small wedding, from on trend flower arrangements to cool 70s retro stationery, a very cute table set up and totally stylish attire. Better yet, you can do it all again in future months to really party, and what a party it’s going to be! Caitlin and Jones thank you so much for sharing these really inspirational and beautiful images today.
Small Wedding Ideas UK
With the current situation with weddings in 2020 and the government guidance changing week-by-week, more and more couples have been inspired to plan small, intimate wedding ceremonies with back-garden receptions. We really wanted to create a styled shoot that would excite and inspire couples to plan small back-garden weddings and to really show how special it can be.
The simplicity of a small wedding celebration doesn’t mean you have to compromise on the style you would have chosen for a larger wedding reception. Having an intimate wedding means you can carefully select your suppliers and it gives them an amazing opportunity to be creative in a smaller space and budget.
I absolutely adore the style and creativity from the girls at Minoux Flowers, I had followed them on Instagram for a long time and totally trusted them to create the vision we had in mind. The relaxed, foraged grasses paired with the delicate blooms was utter perfection.
Sundown Paper Co have such a sense of lighthearted fun to their designs, I was so happy to have them involved, they created 70’s inspired stationery following the colour scheme.
Sash and Veil have a huge range of beautiful handmade veils, we used two for this particular shoot. An embroidered one and then a two-tier veil. The handmade veils really elevated and accentuated the minimalist beauty of the wedding dress.
Hall and Co provided the beautiful furniture through their own prop shop range, they have amazing ‘styled looks’ you can choose from which makes planning and styling seating spaces so easy! We chose the masculine boho lounge set which had two directors chairs, a sideboard, two lounge chairs and a Persian rug. We also used the Persian rug for the ceremony set up. Hall and Co also styled the meal-table too, using dark plates and metallic cutlery.
The model couple wore their own wedding outfits from a few years back, further impressing that not everything at your wedding needs to be brand-new. A laid back garden wedding can be a mixture of old and new, a combination of family heirlooms in a place that can mean a lot for the couple and the family.
Credit Where Credit Is Due
