Now here is a wedding with style folks, which has all the key trends from this year by the way; macramé, pampas grass, a Persian rug aisle and bohemian styling, but it of course has all the emotions and a lot of love to boot.
WWW readers Rebeka and Črt were married in two ceremonies in a small rural village in Slovenia on the 1st September 2018. Their vision was for an outdoorsy day, with an outdoor ceremony surrounded by their loved ones and a stretch tent reception afterwards. I just love all of their boho styling choices, it all looked effortlessly cool. The macramé and divine protea ribbon adorned bouquet was crafted by Rebeka’s mom, the darling watercolour stationery was designed by Rebeka and Rebeka’s sister helped with the table décor. A truly home-made affair, which really brings warmth and personality to their day. Also keep your eyes peeled for a beautiful floral, brush stroke cake creation and a sweet pup ring bearer.
Onto the outfits because they were amazing! Rebeka chose a long sleeved lace gown and high bun to show off all the detail of her dress. While Črt chose a suit teamed with bow tie and on trend tassel loafers. Didn’t they both look so wonderful?!
Thanks ever so much to Maja Tsolo Photography for sharing these fabulous images with us today.
Črt proposed to me during a holiday in Croatia, while we were on a boat cruise. It was a very romantic setting. I was lounging on the boat while he was swimming in the sea. He called my name and when I turned around I saw him swimming with the ring in his hand. He made our summer holidays unforgettable.
We love the bohemian style so we wanted to find a venue in Slovenia, which would suit this style. It was really important to us that the venue had plenty of outdoor space as we were planning to host most of our wedding celebrations outdoors. We wanted a simple, small wedding, with a relaxed atmosphere.
It was a lot of work and quite stressful to plan the wedding because we wanted to do as much as possible by ourselves. We spent 4 months working hard on planning everything. It took us a while to find the right venue, we looked at a few places but then decided to go back to the same place my sister got married at 5 years ago. We loved the venue back then and we knew it would be the right place for us too. The outdoor area at Youth Hostel Pliskovica is beautiful, there are fig and olive trees all around and lots of pretty rustic details. Next we booked our photographer. We didn’t have much of a dilemma here, I have followed Maja’s work for some time and loved her style. Another supplier whose work I love is Petra from Pcakes, so we also booked her straight away. Next up we booked the caterer. Quality of the food at the wedding was really important to us, so we found this part quite hard as we considered different suppliers. In the end we booked catering Godec and we made a good decision. The food was very tasty and they were so professional. Next we booked the DJ, the singers and animators. Lastly we focused on all the decorations. Here my mother and sister were of huge help. My mom made all the macramé decorations and she also made my wedding bouquet. My sister helped me with the table decorations and I designed our wedding invitations, seating plan, menus and gifts. Among the three of us we took care of all the wedding decorations. Now that I look back it was hard work, but it was worth it.

Main wedding venue with the civil ceremony and reception – Youth hostel Pliskovica, Pliskovica, Slovenia. Catholic church ceremony – tiny church with no electricity from 1641 – Church of Saint Anton, Šepulje, Slovenia.
Bride’s dress: the decision where to go for a perfect wedding dress was easy – ENVY ROOM in Zagreb, Croatia. Their designs are modern and playful and made from airy materials that are so easy to wear. The first one I tried on was the one I fell in love with. Shoes – Mango.
Groom’s outfit: suit –Top Man, shirt and belt – Massimo Dutti, shoes – Zara, bow tie – custom made (it was made from the same fabric that was used for the ribbon on the bride’s bouquet).
Hair: My best friend Špela Penko, who is a talented hairdresser for MIČ Styling salon, made me a perfect messy bun. Because my wedding dress had a lot of detail, I wanted to wear my hair tied up.
Make up: I did it myself.
Črt didn’t have any groomsmen, just a best man. We wanted our best man and maid of honour to match the rest of the wedding décor, so they wore clothes in burgundy and dark blue.
No bridesmaids, just a maid of honour. She wore a custom made dress.
My friend Sabina Peklaj sang during our two ceremonies, she has an amazing voice and was responsible for everyone having a big lump in their throats. Song list at the civil ceremony:
1. Nina Badrić – Dani i godine
2. Marta Zore – Le s teboj
3. John Legend – All of me
4. Nina Pušlar – Sva super par
Song list at the church:
1. Oliver Dragojevič – Ti si meni sve (We specifically requested this song and Sabina sang it for just for us ;))
2. Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah
3. Josh Groban – You raise me up
4. Ditka Haberl – Kot nekdo, ki imel me bo rad
5. Christina Perri – A thousand years
6. Adele – Make you feel my love
During the church ceremony my grandma read the Bible scripture from 1 Corinthians 13.
Later at the party we had a DJ.
I have been following Maja’s work on social media for some time and we loved her natural, relaxed style of photography. We thought it would be a great fit for the relaxed outdoor wedding that we were planning. I knew that Maja is based in London but as she is Slovenian born and often travelling between the two places, I enquired if she would be available and willing to photograph our wedding in Slovenia. I was so happy to hear that she was!
As she was spending a few weeks in Croatia and Slovenia leading up to our wedding, we were also able to meet her for an engagement session in Croatia. We had a great time during that session (despite numerous mosquito bites) and the images she sent us were beautiful, so we were confident she would do a great job at the wedding.
Her work speaks for itself but aside from that, we loved her outgoing personality and were impressed by how professional she was throughout our interaction. I am not usually easy to please but I am over the moon happy with our wedding photos.

When it came to flowers, I knew my mom would be the right person to do all our flower arrangements. We ordered flowers from Metka at Sanjski šopek because she has a great selection of flowers. After we decided on the theme and colours for the wedding, I started researching which flowers would suit best and what kind of a bouquet do I want. I loved Protea and made it the focal point of our flower arrangements. We also used a lot of pampas grass to decorate the venue and it fit so perfectly with macramé.
Pinterest was our main inspiration. My mom made the macramé decorations, which are very trendy right now and they look beautifully bohemian. We kept the table decorations simple, with candles and a few vases with flowers.
A family friend owns a vintage Fiat car that he was happy to lend to us. We decorated it with a simple wreath and used it as our wedding car for transport to and from church.
I designed our stationary and seating plan in the colour scheme of the wedding – dark blue and burgundy. Romina of La Mina calligraphy wrote the guest names on the envelopes in her beautiful calligraphy.
As Črt is a professional hockey player, our holidays always have to fit around the hockey season. We knew he won’t be available to go away for some time after the wedding, so we took a pre-wedding trip to Cuba in April instead.
We had a romantic sweet table which was decorated by my mom and sister. Petra from Pcakes made the amazing raspberry and chocolate mousse cake. She included the colours from our wedding invitation in her design and added fresh flowers for a touch of bohemian. Other sweet treats – cake pops and cupcakes were made by my friend Karina.
Walking down the aisle. I remember walking down the path with my dad and trying to hold back my tears. When my dad handed me over to my fiance I remember my heart exploding in my chest.
We also loved having all our family and dear friends there with us. The atmosphere was just amazing.
The weather was also very memorable – the forecast was very gloomy for the day, it was supposed to rain heavily all day and it did indeed rain most of the morning. I was quite upset as we had planned to host everything outside and chose the venue based on this idea. But the rain stopped just before the civil ceremony and the rest of the afternoon not only stayed dry but we actually had sunshine later on. It all worked out perfectly.
Enjoy your day, it is such a magical time!
