Ben and Grace married on the 9th November 2013 at Capheaton Village Hall. They kept their wedding simple and personal while DIYing much of their day. Family and friends came together to help them and the result was so lovely.
Grace donned a pretty Monsoon dress as did the bridesmaids. There were pretty blooms, fun transport and atmospheric lighting. So romantic.
Thanks so much to the wonderful Sarah-Jane Ethan Photography for sharing her images with us this afternoon.
The Proposal… Walking up Ben Wyeiss in the snow.
The Vision for the Day… honestly – didn’t really have a set vision – it all just came together as a wonderful mix of lots of different people’s ideas, I think the end result was a beautiful reflection on how our families and friends, who did all the different parts of the decorating with us, felt it reflected us.
The Planning Process… We had 5 months – a bit of a random brainstorm with lots of bits added here and there as we thought of them. A lot of it was DIY anyway and so lots of different people were involved in the process.
Budget… Total cost £8000.
The Venue… Capheaton Village Hall
The Dress + Accessories… Monsoon dress, shoes from random little independent shoe shop.
Finding the Dress… First shop we went into and it just seemed right!
Groom’s Attire… From suit hire shop – colour entirely based on one of the ushers wearing a kilt so jackets needed to match!
The Readings + Music… Readings: 2 Corinthians Ch 13, Isaiah 43 v 1-3, hymns: Be Still for the Presence of the Lord, How Great Thou Art, In Christ Alone, Be thou my Vision, Music to come in to the church: Pacabell’s Cannon, Music to go back down the aisle: Theme to Indiana Jones.
Beautiful Bridesmaids… Monsoon again for my 4 lovely sisters and my lovely sister-in-law.
The Flowers… the bouquets were the local florist and the stunning flowers in the church were done by one of the ladies in the congregation.
The Cake… All done by my mum who had never done a wedding cake before and I think did an amazing job.
Your Photographer… The very talented Sarah-Jane Ethan who was brilliant. Our photos are amazing and very narrative of the day, she did such a wonderful job. She was so relaxed and really helped us feel comfortable having our photo taken.
The Details + Décor… The arch outside was all done by my friend Charlotte along with the beautifully hand painted table name cards, the tables and décor and seating plan and all the other beautiful decorations were all hand done by my sisters with help from all the family putting it together the day before which was lots of fun.
The Honeymoon… the Mulanji Mountains, Malawi.
Memorable Moments… all of it – amazing day.
Advice for Other Couples… We had coffee and cakes which our friends did in the church following the service which was a great way to see everyone esp those not coming to the reception and also gave time for photos.
