Planning a cosy wintry wedding in the country? Then this is the wedding for you lovely readers. Rebecca and Sam tied the knot on the 11th February 2017 in a church ceremony followed by a reception at The Wild Boar in the Lake District. I totally love the neutral colour palette that runs throughout the day, with Sam in a brown tweed suit, crisp whites and wooden rustic décor galore. They envisioned a simple and laid back day, which really comes across beautifully in the images by Hayley Baxter Photography. I really love their portraits in the tree lined road especially, they are so very seasonal.
The florals were all roses and gypsophila for a timeless and pretty style, a vintage suitcase was used for the seating plan and log touches worked well with the hessian and kraft paper details. There were also two cakes and the tower of cheese really looked marvellous perched upon the tree stump stand. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was devoured by hungry guests. Although by the sounds of their delicious menu, they were really treated by Rebecca and Sam already in the food department.
Then there was Rebecca’s gown. I am totally coveting her long train, illusion lace dress. It’s a design called Deirdre by Maggie Sottero and she looked divine in it. Such a good call opting for sleeves too, not only do they look gorgeous but I am sure they kept the winter chill at bay. Enjoy folks.
THE PROPOSAL | 10th October 2014, Middlethorpe Hall, York
THE VISION | Laid back, simple, country wedding with great food!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Planning started 18 months before the wedding day, searching country venues and nearby churches. All the planning was enjoyable and pretty much stress free. Pinterest was great for logging ideas!
THE VENUE | St Catherine’s Church, Crook, Windermere and The Wild Boar, Windermere (Cosy, laid back country venue with amazing food!).
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress was from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge.
Designer: Maggie Sottero.
Shoe Designer: Rachel Simpson.
FINDING THE DRESS | I searched many bridal shops looking for ‘the one’, I loved so many that I tried on but knew there was a better one for me still to be found. I came across the ‘Deirdre’ dress in a magazine and loved it. Phoned round some bridal shops and found the Harrogate Wedding Lounge had it on order as it was from the new collection. I tried it on alone a couple of weeks later and instantly loved it.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Harris tweed waistcoat and jacket, chinos and shoes.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings: Your Walled Garden followed by 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Music: Entrance (Bridal Chorus by Wagner), Hymn (Give me oil in my lamp), Signing of register (Cannon in D by Pachelbel), Hymn: (God, in the planning and purpose of life), Recessional Music (Wedding March by Mendelssohn).
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Blush pink dresses from ASOS, flower girls wore Monsoon kids.
THE FLOWERS | Made in Flowers, Kendal.
THE CAKE | Friend of family.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Hayley Baxter Photography – AMAZING photos, very natural and relaxed photography.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Amazing venue with minimal decoration required. We used wooden candle holders and jam jars to decorate the tables and fairy lights around the wooden beams. Food: guests had a choice of three starters (macaroni cheese, wild boar belly, seabass), three mains (fillet steak, fish and chips, chicken chermoura) and three desserts (lemon posset, sticky toffee pudding, ice cream).
Evening food was hog roast with all the trimmings, wedding cake and cheese.
Cumbria Classic Coaches was a unique touch taking everyone to the church and back!
James Franklyn kept everyone entertained with his amazing singing during the drinks reception and evening dancing.
THE HONEYMOON | Luxury all inclusive in Mexico. Stayed at Sensimar Seaside Suites.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Putting our wellies on and jumping in the Wild Boar 4×4 to go for pictures up at the muddy tarn!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy planning it together. Don’t stress over little things that nobody else will even notice on the day. Try to spend some time together on the wedding day to take in, the quickest but best day ever!
