All the 1970s wedding vibes today courtesy of this ultra cool rust wedding inspiration. Behind the shoot was the very talented Golden Hare Wedding Photography; who curated, photographed and filmed the whole affair.
I so love all the retro wedding ideas here; from the sunburst painted backdrop (just awesome!), to the dried flowers and earthenware laden table set up. The backdrop of the shoreline is so striking and provides the perfect inspiration for couples portraits. Not to mention that the bride and groom looked very stylish in their unique attire and let’s not forget that very sweet cake; I am loving the rainbow effect. I am sure you are eager to soak up all of these rust wedding ideas, so I will leave you to enjoy it all in full.
Shore of the 70’s
Let’s go back to the 1970’s. With beaded bell-bottoms and the rise of the retro, this beautifully bohemian decade epitomises the definition of the hippie couture. This is the inspiration that Gemma, our photographer, had in mind when creating the “Shore of the 70’s” shoot. Set on the seashore in Deal, Kent, we endeavoured to encapsulate the highlights of the decade using a quintessential 70’s palette of desert tones and copper accents.
Amie and Kaii, the model couple for this special day, perfectly embodied the 70’s vibes, with Kaii fashioned in a cream jumper and brown suit, and Amie in a gorgeous flowing dress provided by Nortier Shallow. Not only did this combination compliment the seashore scenery and bohemian backdrops, but the dress captured the movement of the breeze, creating dramatic shots on both the beach and the cliffs, with the skirt of the dress flowing in the wind.
Our makeup and hair team accentuated these gorgeous tones and vibes that their clothes were emanating. Whilst Jo at JW Makeup Artistry created a gorgeous soft look on the bride’s face, Mariana Inman creatively incorporated gorgeous golden headpieces and veil from “Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe” in a fashionable 70s hairstyle, allowing the hairpieces to dazzle.
Our first location depicted the idyllic seaside picnic for a romantic couple, from flickering candles and copper toned cups, to a tiered and toned retro cake as provided by Iced Images Cakes. With a wooden structure laced with linen in a gorgeous blood orange, both the overhead and table pieces were perfect for the shoot thanks to Magpie Linen and Boho and Bloom. Bohotanical were also on hand to decorate the shoot with gorgeous floral tones, using soft pampas grass and dried flowers, offering a delicate romantic touch to this wonderful picnic like setting.
The second location framed the couple on the beach with a beautiful sunshine shaped backdrop, a vision of modern art and the retro mojo, created by the Boho and Bloom team in only 3 days! This splendid piece, coloured with warm tones, captured the 70s inspiration down to a “T”, a great contrast to the blues of the seashore behind. Our brilliant photographer and videographer Gemma was not only able to snap fantastic photographs of this location, but also created a wonderful video. This incorporated a series of slow-motion shots with a super 8 effect and a retro colour grade to bring everything together.
Moving further down the beach, we found a caravan owned by the lovely Graham who kindly allowed us to incorporate his aesthetically retro vehicle into the scene. Combined with a beautiful burgundy vintage jacket from the Sun Worshippers club, and brown hat and a vintage camera, the perfect scene was set to shoot!
We then had just enough sunlight to climb the dramatic cliff of Deal for a clifftop shoot, finishing on an all time high with this majestic setting. With the seasonal colours of autumn just beginning to bloom, this became the perfect set up to capture the vibes which we had sought. Once again Gemma was able to picture the shoot with perfection, bouncing off of the model couple to encapsulate the idea of the 70’s just in time before the sun set – what a fantastic day!
Thanks to working alongside a team of wonderful suppliers, the final footage captures the gorgeous copper and desert toned shoot, capturing laid back, boho style shots on the Kent coastline.
