There is certainly a chill in the air this time of year, so you may well be dreaming of sunnier climes. I have the perfect antidote to those of you dreaming of light evenings, balmy weather and divine scenery. Yes we’re headed to Tuscany for the romantic countryside wedding of Marco and Severine.
Marco and Severine decided to hold their wedding on the 6th September 2017 in Firenze, Italy. They wanted to host a celebration which was intimate, warm and family orientated. Guests travelled from many different countries and so the location was just the perfect setting. Wedding planner Caterina Weddings created the most beautiful affair for the pair. Tables were laden with greenery, candles and rustic touches galore. I love that our couple went away on holiday pre wedding, the perfect way to enjoy and unwind before the big event.
Thanks so much goes to Ilaria Petrucci for sharing these rather exquisite images with us. Beautiful.
THE PROPOSAL | 6th September 2016, Cambodia, private boat exclusive dinner for 2 (chef on board) in front of the sunset anchored at the Mekong enormous river delta.
THE VISION | We wanted to have an intimate, yet warm and family oriented wedding. A very nice location and a maximum of 100 guests. Family and closest friends. In addition, since we had guests coming from several locations (Singapore, France, Germany, Holland, USA, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Canada, UK, and of course Italy) we wanted to choose an iconic location, well known worldwide for its beauty: Firenze.
A beautiful city with beautiful people and surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the world (to our taste), Tuscany.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started one year in advance, with the help of Caterina everything was planned smoothly and diligently. She was present every step of the way with her guidance, ideas and expertise. We completely trusted her and she created the most beautiful day for us, listening to our vision she was able to bring it to life in ways we could only have dreamt of! On the day everything was magical and her dedication (and her amazing team!) to us and to making sure everything run perfectly was second to none. The paperworks gave us a bit of a headache though, because Marco is Italian and resident in Singapore, Severine is French, born in USA, resident in Singapore, and we got married in Firenze, therefore we had to coordinate several embassies and make sure the documents were moving around the various desks without being lost somewhere (lots of bureaucracy to go through). Suggestion: move on way in advance with the paperwork.
THE VENUE | Legal Ceremony: Town Hall Firenze, Palazzo Vecchio, Sala Rossa, Piazza della Signoria; a historical location for a memorable experience.
Symbolic Ceremony: Villa Le Fontanelle (Firenze, Italy), dominating the Roofs of Firenze this Villa offers an amazing panorama together with the peace of the nature all around.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Atelier Eme’ Firenze, dress made of ‘Pizzo Fiorentino’ (Florentine Lace Dress), tailor made for Severine. Two fittings, final fitting at the villa.
FINDING THE DRESS | Wisely recommended by Caterina, our wedding planner, immediately caught Severine’s Heartat Atelier Eme’ in Florence. Chosen in January, first fitting in April, second fitting before the wedding.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Suit and vest were tailor made in Singapore by ‘The Prefecture’, based on the old drawing of Marco’s Father for his wedding back in 1980. Small details always makes the difference. Accessories from Marco’s Grand Father and Great Grand Father (cufflinks and watch). Very proud to wear pieces of family history.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | One maid of honour, Severine’s best friend from childhood.
THE FLOWERS | ‘Il Giardino delle Fate’ made a wonderful job, we were surrounded by flowers everywhere. Magic.
THE CAKE | We both do not like traditional wedding cakes (nice looking but heavy), so we choose the Millefoglie (puff pastry) with fresh cream (made 5 minutes before the cut) and freshly chopped strawberry/blueberry/raspberry/blackberry/cranberry made “live” by the chef of Roland’s Catering who we couldn’t have be happier to work with! This cake is only good if made and eaten immediately (otherwise the pastry becomes soggy and the cream becomes liquid), therefore the assembly of the cake was made in front of everybody. Not only the cake was indeed delicious, but also everybody was happy and surprised and we love the idea of it as it is very unique. Moreover it is a very light and tasty cake.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Ilaria Petrucci: Ilaria was professional, kind, always there where it’s needed to catch the right moment. She made us feel so comfortable from the very beginning with her discretion and clear and fun directions we were able to relax in front of her camera and she capture the most magical moments for us! In fact we hardly even noticed she was there and our guests have commented the same! Ilaria was also kind enough to step in last minute and improvised herself as our translator for our legal ceremony in the morning as our plan A didn’t work out. She did a great job as we wouldn’t have been able to get married otherwise!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Herbs, berries, wood, ceramics, beautiful candelabra and amazing lights bought from Denmark (Sirus.as).
THE HONEYMOON | Yet to happen, the honeymoon will be in Japan, this spring, during the Sakura season (Japanese Cherry Blossom).
We also had a pre-honeymoon, in August, sailing 20 days in Greece.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The most memorable thing was to see how nice and united our families are.
Families of painters, sculptors, composers, designers, architects, musicians, singers… all beautiful people, connected by a strong family spirit and full of joy in their hearts.
The poetry from Uncle Marino during the ceremony… touching.
The singing performance of Uncle Franco during dinner… amazing.
Lots of happiness, lots of love.
No one was ever bored, that’s for sure.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Take a holiday right before the wedding like we did! It helps to be relaxed before the big day.
Make sure there are no ‘dead moments’ during the whole day, plan activities, games, live music, food and drinks at any time. Make sure people always have something nice to be entertained with.
Trust your vendors! We couldn’t have dreamt for a better team.
