Let’s find out more about Jake and take a peek at his stunning portfolio.
Hi Jake, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?
I am a 39 years old, married, with 4 children living by the sea in South Wales.
What do you love about your job?
I love the freedom to be creative along with the freedom of running my own business.
How did you get into the wedding industry?
After graduating from a photography degree, I worked as a photographer for a magazine group, shooting music, interiors, fashion and portraits. After relocating to Wales and going freelance I soon realised that, along with commercial photography, the changing and developing wedding industry was a place where I could establish my own creative style.
Tell us about your typical working day.
When not at a wedding, I might be out shooting a musicians’ portfolio, or covering an event, if I am not out shooting, then I’ll be editing or blogging in my studio.
If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?
I love working with people and while the creative of being the photographer is what I love best, I also enjoy organising and communicating with people helping the couple get the wedding day they want.
What do you aim to achieve for your clients?
A set of images that they love and cherish. But having achieved this in a relaxed and professional way, working within their timings in an unobtrusive way and not monopolising the day in any way.
What style is your work? How would you describe your style in three words?
Romantic, artistic, nostalgic.
Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?
I keep it simple, £1600 covers the whole day, including a USB of high res edited images (min 500). This includes travel in Wales and England.
I also offer a range of beautiful art book albums that can be added after the wedding.
Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographer?
Before a client books me, they have usually had a good look at my work, past and present, so they have seen the consistency and style that they like. But its from speaking/meeting that people really buy into me and my work. So where possible meeting suppliers is important.
Are you seeing any trends for the year ahead?
The ever changing trends inspire and fascinate me. Celebrating the simplicity of a beautiful venue along with a stripped back vibe is enjoying popularity right now.
Can you give us a teaser about what you are working on now?
I am working on some exciting projects bringing video and stop motion into my photography business.
