If one thing is for certain, the popularity for pampas grass is high in the world of weddings. And you know what? I just love the use of pampas grass in wedding styling, it gives such a cool, edgy and bohemian vibe. So when these incredible images by Tim Stephenson Photography curated by One Curious Dream were sent over to us I was over the moon.
These bohemian meets luxe wedding ideas really are so opulent and whimsical. The tablescape was laden with flowers and greenery, bronze props, romantic lighting and it looks just incredible. The bridal looks too are very on trend, with statement lace gowns featuring epic trains, teamed with inspiring hair and make up, not to mention exquisite celestial jewellery. I have a feeling you are going to love this editorial shoot.
Pampas Grass Wedding Ideas
It’s safe to say this styled shoot was a real labour of love! Having worked with Rambling Rose Florist on many occasions, I knew that she would be the perfect person to help bring the creative vision to life. Working closely together and with lots of changes and refinements throughout the design process, we eventually decided to create a high-impact boho meets luxe editorial.
Working with Rambling Rose Florist is always fantastic fun – creatively, we both like to design spaces that are big, bold and beautiful and our approach of working together on a shoot is to throw away the rulebook and actually enjoy the design process! Whilst we knew we wanted to remain true to our core design styles, (both of us favour relaxed, bohemian vibes), we both really wanted the opportunity to experiment with some edgier luxe elements that would elevate the overall design.
We were thrilled to have Tim Stephenson and Mike Savory step in to work on the shoot at very late notice – having worked together on several occasions before, we knew that these guys would understand our working style and be able to translate what we produce into something beautiful. Tim’s ability to light the most ordinary of spaces into something magical never fails to amaze and Mike’s footage always has the wow-factor!
For the overall design, we really wanted to create statement spaces that would look and feel luxurious without being ostentatious. We decided to juxtapose bold, brassy tones against natural textures with heavy use of foliage and pampas grass throughout.
For the table setting, we wanted to create a high-impact setting, offering luxurious details with metallic tones to provide balance. Lydia used Ammi (‘Queen Anne’s Lace’) – with its fern like leaves and White Antirrhinum (Snapdragon) offered some height and statuesque beauty, mirroring the shape of the abundance of Pampas Grass. Stems of Blossom placed between some of the fluffy gold dipped Pampas Grass helped create more texture and depth to the design.
From a props point of view, I chose lots of metallic pieces to give a luxe, edgy finish that would work in contrast to the neutral, creamy tones of the pampas grass and blend effortlessly with the foliage as well. Lydia from Rambling Rose also dipped the pampas grass in gold leaf so little shimmers of gold could be seen throughout. Of course, no shoot is complete without an abundance of candles to add some ambiance and a little extra drama – the more is always the merrier!
We created a beautiful deconstructed arch with plenty of lush green foliage against a set of vintage, whitewashed Edwardian doors. Eucalyptus and darker toned pampas were used here to create another impact piece and some of the palm leaves had been dried and gold dipped to add depth. The look was finished with a ton of candles in pillar vases and little tealights in metallic holders.
We were over the moon that the incredible Lisa Angel UK shared some amazingly cool jewellery pieces with us and these blended effortlessly with beautiful dresses from both Adella Bridal and the Fabulous Miss K Store.
Adie Hannah did an incredible job of styling our model, Cathy Wilson, with both hair and makeup and the results were just beautiful.
