Welcome to the love-filled and romantic Netherdale House wedding of WWW readers Hannah and Andrew in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Their day was so whimsical and romantic, there really is nothing I don’t love about their special celebrations. From the sage green and blush hues to the wooden decor, candles, lush flowers and epic cake creation. Not to mention the totally gorgeous outfits all round. Swoon!
It’s also just amazing to hear that WWW was a help when it came to keeping their plans on track despite the pandemic.
I used your website a few times for ideas and to read previous brides experiences of planning a wedding during COVID and how special a smaller wedding could be filled me with the much-needed motivation when I was going through those moments of uncertainty and thoughts of “should we just postpone?!”
Thanks so much to Danielle Leslie Photography for sharing these spectacular images of a very intimate and joyous day.
I proposed to Hannah on the 31st of December 2016 at Winter Wonderland in London.
I had booked a private pod unknowingly to Hannah on the ferris wheel. When we reached the top I got down on one knee and asked Hannah to be my wife – she said yes!
We then went to get hot chocolate and macaroni cheese to celebrate – in truly “us” style! We have been childhood sweethearts for 10 years and started going out on the 6th of May 2011 when we were just 16 years old, so May was a really significant month for us to get married.
After Andrew proposed back in 2016, his work took him to Canada for a while and I went back to University to do my Nursing degree. So we decided that we would get married after I qualified.
However, I qualified bang in the middle of the pandemic! We knew we still wanted to just get married regardless.
Originally when we booked Netherdale the limit on wedding guest numbers was 20 so we originally planned a smaller day with just our immediate family but luckily the numbers increased to 50 just before our wedding day and we were able to share our day with all of our close family and friends.
I wanted a laidback, rustic and romantic feel to the wedding with loads of foliage, sage greens, peaches and blush pinks.
Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of getting married in a beautiful country house. So, when I found Netherdale House, I just knew we needed to go and see it.
Our first time visiting Netherdale and meeting the owners Faye and Louise we had it booked! It’s a beautiful Georgian mansion set in the Aberdeenshire countryside. It also has a stunning converted barn and newly renovated coach house which we rented to accommodate our guests for the weekend.
It has the feel of a traditional Scottish home but with that modernised touch. Faye and Louise are fabulous owners and were an absolute joy to work with in the lead up to the wedding and also on the day of – nothing was too much to ask!
Hannah – I always wanted a floaty and romantic dress. I was never the girl who wanted the big cinderella ball gown.
When I went to Midnight Elegance and told Kathy my vision she told me “I have your dress!” I was a bit sceptical, to begin with, but… she did!
I felt like a princess when I put it on. It was everything I had imagined. My dress was “Elara by Adrianna Papell” a beautiful A-line dress with a modern floral and leaf design, delicate embroidered polka dot lace and scattered in translucent sequins. I felt like a wee fairy!
Andrew – Anyone that knows me knows that I love vibrant colours and like to be a bit different when it comes to what I wear.
When picking my kilt I knew I wanted something a bit different to your traditional colours. I wore the “Cullins of Skye” tartan which actually in turn became significant as that’s where we spent our honeymoon!
Hannah actually had a totally different colour scheme in mind until I picked my tartan and she had to change it all! It all worked out great in the end!
Robin Wiseman was our celebrant and he delivered the most perfect, personalised ceremony for us. He brought the perfect amount of love and laughter and put us both at such ease.
Since there were COVID restrictions on suppliers being included in the numbers we had a speaker to play our music. For our processional, we had “A Thousand Years” cover by The Piano Guys and for our recessional, we had “L O V E” by Nat King Cole – a nice happy tune to start our married life! 🙂
However, one of my best friends and bridesmaids Katie is an actress and singer so it was a no brainer I wanted her to sing during our ceremony. She sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” during the signing of the register and Andrew’s cousin Lynne accompanied her on the piano – it was such a beautiful touch and meant so much to us.

Danielle is not only a lovely, down to earth human being she is simply the BEST photographer! Her work is effortlessly romantic.
She put us both at ease and just felt like another friend there on the day. You can literally feel the joy and happiness through our photos. The rain absolutely poured on the day of our wedding but we embraced it and she absolutely nailed it!
Videographer: Ali at Flat 4D Media
I have watched other couples’ wedding videos for years and always got excited about mine. Whenever I watched Ali’s videos I would always be in tears – at total strangers wedding videos!! If that doesn’t show how good he is I don’t know what does.
Ali has given us something we will treasure forever. Our novella highlight film is absolutely amazing and I can’t help but cry when I watch it! It just captured the love and our day so well. He is an absolute genius.
Live Stream: Adam at Live Evolution
Due to COVID travel restrictions and number limits some of our friends and family couldn’t come so it was a no brainer we wanted to live stream the ceremony. Adam had to deal with terrible weather on the day of our wedding which was threatening to interrupt the stream – he was on the roof at one point! That’s true dedication!
The lovely Tracy at Without a Hitch took the stress of decor off my hands. We worked together to create my vision of a romantic and rustic feel with floating candles, rustic arch, lanterns and beautiful chiffon hoods with ruffles on the chivari chairs.
We had beautiful stationery created for the day the same as our invitations by the talented Vicky at Paperoo. She created the welcome sign, table plan, menus and name tags for our guests’ seats.
They perfectly matched the colours and flowers in my bouquet. She also created our cake topper which had a subtle hint to our favourite Disney film “UP” which was really special.
Our cake was amazing. Alanna at Lana-Lou’s Cake Studio took my vision and brought it to life. Everyone commented on not just how amazing it looked but just how delicious it was! She was an absolute joy to work with and so creative! She also made our shortbread cookie favours which were equally as delicious!
Amy and her team at The Flower Shop Peterhead made all my flower dreams come true! I asked for a whimsical and flowy bouquet and they hit the nail on the head.
My bouquet and my bridesmaids’ bouquets were filled with blush peach roses, blush pink astillbe, white peonies, phlox, gyp, freesia, peach stalk, eucalyptus and thlaspi. Dreamy!
I also had fresh flowers matching my bouquet placed in my hair. The bouquets perfectly tied in with the sage green bridesmaid dresses – the girls even matched the green door to Netherdale House (total coincidence!).
My mum also made a little picture storyboard of Andrew and I from when we were little, through our relationship, until now which was really special.
We also had personalised hand sanitisers for all the guests. We also bought a “guest tree” instead of your traditional guest book (that normally gets stashed away and forgotten about!) from “The Illustrated Tree Company” so we can have it displayed in our home forever 🙂
Andrew here! Since Hannah took charge of most of the organising and planning of the wedding I thought it was only fair on her to take charge of the honeymoon.
I booked it all and kept it all a secret from Hannah. She found out where she was going on the morning of the wedding through 3 presents I gave her – something old, something borrowed, something new/blue so it added a special touch.
We love travelling the world on holiday but because of the uncertainty of COVID restrictions, I booked us a staycation in the Isle of Skye. We had both never been before and stayed in the beautiful Skeabost Hotel and have wonderful memories made to cherish forever. Skye has become our special place.
It’s so hard to pick as there as so many wonderful memories and moments from throughout the day. But, we both agree one of the best was the moment when I started walking down the aisle.
Andrew was overcome with emotion and couldn’t stop his tears! I had dreamt of that moment my whole life and it just felt so surreal it was finally happening. It was so special and emotional in the best way.
If there was any advice we would give to other couples planning their wedding during these uncertain times it would be – just do it! Remember the reason why you are marrying each other, think of the vows you are making to one another and focus on that. Nothing else matters.
Just so gorgeous.
Hannah and Andrew I can’t thank you enough for sharing your Netherdale House wedding story with us.
