Rolling countryside, spectacular views of Valle Cruces Abbey and a muted colour palette. Yes it’s time for WWW readers Becca and Stevie’s nuptials held on the 24th September 2016. They were married in a church ceremony followed by a marquee reception at The Abbey Farm in North Wales. Their day was all about a relaxed celebration in neutral tones using natural materials. Greenery and foliage were used in the floral arrangements alongside roses and gypsophila for a pretty feel. In the marquee hessian and wood were used abundantly and I adore the stars hanging from the ceiling, a really lovely statement.
The couple looked gorgeous in their chosen attire. Becca fell for a gorgeous flowing beaded gown and chose a plaited up do for her timeless bridal look. Stevie and his groomsmen went mismatched country casual in bow ties, chinos and blazers.
Many thanks today go to Love Luella Photography for sharing these exquisite images.
THE PROPOSAL | We went on a mini-break to Amsterdam and he proposed in the bar at the top of the Hilton, with an amazing view overlooking the city.
THE VISION | We wanted it to be traditional but relaxed so it suited both of our tastes. The morning was a traditional service and the afternoon was a relaxed celebration.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We spent a lot of time making our own invites, decorations and booking our honeymoon, it allowed us to have each exactly how we wanted it rather than compromising on shop bought decorations, or a pre-planned trip from a travel agent etc.
THE VENUE | Northop Hall Presbyterian church and Abbey Farm, Llangollen overlooking Valle Cruces Abbey.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Cambric Gowns, I didn’t want anything too big and when I saw this dress I knew it would fit well with the theme of the wedding. It was also really comfortable!
FINDING THE DRESS | I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on, it was so comfortable and fitted well with my theme and personal style.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | We weren’t bothered about all the groomsmen matching (as we wanted everything to be relaxed) so we went to Cheshire Oaks and Stevie picked out his suit based on it matching the theme, but also so he felt comfortable. We ended up mixing and matching from Cheshire Oaks Retail Park with a combination of Ralph Lauren and Racing Green.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Two of our best friends (and also our Reverends children) read for us in the ceremony, we also had The Big Beat play in our evening reception and they were fantastic.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I chose a muted sage green for the day and the dresses came from Cambric Gowns the same as mine, they suited the girls perfectly and were so classy and flattering.
THE FLOWERS | We kept them quite neutral with greens/silvers and touches of hessian and wood here and there. My (Becca) mum did all the flowers in the marquee, and also decorated all of the jars. I made the ribbon table runners, with help from Stevie’s parents to help weigh them down with wood.
THE CAKE | Our cake was perfect, it was woodland theme and made by our close family friend Helen from ‘ShoCakes’ it was three tiers and we also had matching cupcakes with personalised ones for our two flower girls. Helen was also my nanny when I was a baby!
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Tash//Love Luella Photography.
Tash was brilliant in the lead up to the wedding, very organised so I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything. On the day, it all went smoothly and during the speeches etc, I forgot she was there as she was so discreet! We also wanted a more personal/friendly approach, which there was!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We wanted it all to be quite neutral so it fitted well with the Abbey surroundings – we chose different green tones that didn’t quite match. We kept it an earthy vibe.
THE HONEYMOON | New York-Vegas-LA – it was a great mix of sightseeing, partying and relaxing! We booked the whole trip ourselves so we were in control of when we visited each city, and the dates and times. We also hired a Ford Mustang to drive from Vegas to LA which was amazing!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Reaching Stevie at the top of the aisle, that’s when it all became real that we were actually getting married!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Keep a to-do list handy as in the build up, there’s so much to remember, it’s easy to forget to do something!
If ordering stuff online, do so in good time. I ordered a lot of stuff for decorating on eBay and some of it took a couple of months to arrive as it came from afar.
