Sophie and Robert’s Millbrook Lodge Hotel wedding in Northern Ireland was an absolute delight!
From the gorgeous summer wedding flowers to the stylish outfits and romantic outdoor ceremony, you are going to love it all! I absolutely love Sophie’s gorgeous peony wedding bouquet in particular, what a beauty it was.
Then there were the scrumptious cakes, all-day-long smiles and of course, all the loved-up vibes.
Iain Irwin Photography, I can’t thank you enough for sharing these marvellously joyful images with us.
We got engaged on the 27th of May 2021 at Ballintoy Harbour on the North Coast of Ireland. We’d had an active day and were finishing it off with a walk on the beach, the rain has just cleared up to make the moment just right!
We wanted our wedding to reflect our belief in God and how we are able to love because he first loved us. It was really important for both of us that God be at the centre of our ceremony as well as our marriage.
We decided to have the whole day at the Millbrook Lodge Hotel in Ballynahinch. This way we were able to have the wedding outside and it was easy for our guests staying in the one place all day.
The venue were really helpful in the run up to the day and helped make things run seamlessly all day.
The wedding dress was from Orchid Bridal in Portadown. The dress was from Justin Alexander’s sincerity collection.
I had seen it online before trying on any dresses and loved the design, when I tried it on I knew it was the perfect dress for me!
We got lots of our friends and family involved in the service. My husband and I met at church so it was perfect to have our minister from then marry us.
We picked praise songs that meant a lot to us and all the other music for the service and our friends performed it. We also got close friends to do the readings and prayers for us, having all of them involved made the service really special.
Iain Irwin was our photographer and he made the day so stress-free for us both. He was such a calming presence in the busyness of the morning preparation and helped direct each stage of the day.
He helped us be thorough in planning the day which made everything run smoothly! Robert and I aren’t the most comfortable in front of a camera, but Iain was so helpful and clear at directing us, and we felt so comfortable and relaxed the whole time.
Iain was fantastic at setting up little opportunities for us on the day to be alone and just enjoy our day together. He really helped make the day perfect.
Our amazing flowers were done by Zoë Conville Design House. The flowers were even better than I thought they would be and looking back at the day I’m so glad that we chose such a bright, colour palette.
Our cakes were done by a friend James Kirkland and were not only designed beautifully, but they tasted amazing. My mum made our wedding favours and the signs were done ourselves.
We had such an amazing two weeks in Mauritius. A perfect time to get away and spend some time just us!
The whole day was perfect. Some special moments were coming back up the aisle a married couple and just spending some time with all of our guests.
Plan as much as you can together. It takes the stress out of things and is a great way to spend time together in the run-up to the wedding.
