Micro weddings, small weddings, intimate weddings, who’d have thought that at the beginning of 2020 we’d be seeing these types of intimate weddings and elopements soar in popularity? Of course, fate would have it this way and it’s vital that we embrace the guidelines and look for ways to innovate, a way forward despite the horrible circumstances. Love will prevail, love will always win, love is not cancelled folks. Weddings have always taken place throughout history, even in the darkest of times and they will continue. What has been most amazing is how the wedding community has really rallied together to help their couples, to provide inspiration and hope, to provide new packages and creative solutions. This is just why I love today’s micro wedding ideas shoot in the woods. A team of forward thinking suppliers, teaming up to give inspiration and excitement to couples seeking ideas in how to get hitched right now.
Why not head to the woodland, say your vows, marry now and party later? Does it get any more romantic than declaring your love beneath the canopy of trees? Add in dramatic flowers, a picnic vibe table set up draped in thoughtful décor and go wild with treats and stationery. I am also thrilled to see one of our Supplier Love members Lisa Lyons Bridal lending the beautiful gown gracing the site today, that lace, swoon! Dress up and feel fabulous and become married in total and utter style. Gareth Jones Photography really captured the essence of the woodland vibe in these atmospheric shots. Enjoy.
Micro Wedding Ideas – In The Woods
2020 weddings can occur but with a number of only 15 people (of course held at a safe distance in England).
Intimate weddings are the new idea… with just your closet friends and family present.
Smaller doesn’t mean less spectacular, with a smaller wedding on a larger wedding budget, priorities change, and you can afford to splash out and treat yourselves and your guests.
I am bringing you this blog of a woodland wedding inspiration with an intimate feel, which includes some talented suppliers that were able to bring this shoot together. Rustic boho weddings are coming into fashion, allowing us to be more economical. Stripping back to the whole reason couples get married… for love. Royston Heath has miles and miles of woodland… check out the blog to find out how we created this look…

After seeing the inspiration for this shoot I decided to go with a lot of neutral tones and wild, trailing foliage. The bouquet was large and filled with different flowers like roses, lisianthus, ammi, spray roses, amaranthus and astrantia, along with foliages like eucalyptus, birch, asparagus and dried palm spears. For the arch style structure we used a type of den which was already built in the woods and I created the clusters of flowers straight onto it so it would look as natural as possible.
For the hair Emma decided to go for an up style incorporating a braid. Fishtail braids are really effective and make it quite textured which is my signature style. Emma decided to use some fresh flowers from Sophie which finished the style perfectly for an outdoors shoot.
Your table décor and styling is the chance for you to showcase the vision to your wedding. Beth from Miss Carlysle and Co worked alongside Kate from Wren Prop Hire to create a ‘picnic’ styled table setting with a rustic wooden pallet. With the florals by Sophie May Floral draping down the middle of the table, we worked our magic adding statement candles and candlesticks down the middle with the rustic feeling table runner. Candles give off a warm, relaxing glow for the perfect laid back atmosphere. Rustic wooden plaques are coming into fashion, being able to use them for table styling and even venue décor, creating a magical vibe in the woods.
Scents and Bloom are an eco-friendly business and our products are made using the highest quality ingredients including natural, plant based soy wax. Having searched the markets for natural 100% soy wax candles, which were vegan, reusable and affordable. They were shocked to realise these designer brands were using paraffin wax, which is hugely toxic, so we wanted to create something that no only used natural soy wax, but also was good for the environment too. Brilliant for favours for your wedding day. When creating their packaging for Scents & Bloom, one of our biggest challenges to overcome, was not only to be as environmentally friendly as possible, we wanted to create packaging which you don’t want to throw away once opened. Something that can be reused and reused. Their handmade labels are made with recycled cotton fibres to enable regrowth, with little wildflower seeds embedded throughout. Our amber glass pots, make the perfect place for your seed paper to grow, giving your pot a second life once the flame has burnt out.
Kelly’s Kitchen designed two sets of cupcakes to tie in with the woodland setting. The first were domed cupcakes in an ivory cream and light sage green with edible gold leaf, topped with a sugar blossom. To compliment the celebration and picnic style reception, cocktail cupcakes also provided the perfect greeting for guests as they arrive. The Strawberry Daiquiri Cupcake with a vanilla sponge, strawberry centres, strawberry infused buttercream topped with lime sugar, a pipette of Bacardi and half a fresh strawberry. Along with The Pimms Cupcake with an orange sponge, orange curd centres, a vanilla buttercream with mint sugar, a pipette of Pimms and a slice of fresh orange and cucumber.
Even a small wedding deserve spectacular stationery details. From save the dates, invitations, place settings, menus, through to the order of the day, table plan and a welcome sign. The stationery was paired back modern and playful, my Niamh suite was the perfect choice to match the rustic elegance of this gorgeous woodland heath shoot. Printed on thick recycled uncoated cardstocks using eco friendly inks, the tonal sage greens and greys are soft and calming, paired with casual script lettering for a modern twist.
