Oh we do love a real wedding hosted at Le Petit Chateau in Northumberland, it’s just the most incredible setting and was just perfect for our featured couple today, Owen and Laura. These two were hitched on the 10th June 2018 and envisioned something a little bit different for their romantic nuptials. It was important to them both that they included their favourite things, such as Krispy Kreme donuts as favours and a sweetie table too, yum!
I am totally loving their elegant and opulent marsala and gold colour scheme, which also featured accents of blush. Especially in those flower arrangements, I mean wow! The bouquets in particular really were spectacular and included blousy stems and an abundance of foliage all tied with pretty ribbon. I bet they smelt amazing too. Also keep an eye out for the show stopping cake creations, featuring geometric pattern, statement toppers and gold leaf detailing. They made for a wow factor centrepiece at their reception.
Owen and Laura of course both looked gorgeous. Laura chose a beautiful lace gown with perfectly messy hair adorned with a hair vine, while Owen wore a camel waistcoat and blue grey suit. So stylish! On hand to capture all the details and moments in fine art photography style was Carn Patrick, thanks so much for sharing these incredible shots with us Carn.
So we got engaged in New York City, Owen took me to central park. It was a total surprise, no one was around and it was perfect.
I left Dawn to her own devices, I just told her a couple of ideas for each tier and she created the most beautiful cake and it was just what I wanted. It tastes insane. We will eating cake for a while.
We didn’t want the traditional church/castle/country house wedding. We wanted something different and I think the venue did that. With the Belle Époque and the gardens surrounding it just makes you feel like you’re in a different country especially when the sun comes out. In the reception room we wanted a lot of our favourite things so we had a photo booth, Krispy Kreme doughnuts as favours and also, I bought jars candy bags and scoops from eBay for a sweet table.
The centrepieces and decoration was all down to Hollie at Fleur Couture, I went in with an open mind and she just put what I wanted right in front of me without me realising that was what I was coming in for. She was amazing.
The Planning Process
This was actually so much fun for me. I’m such a chilled and organised person I don’t get stressed very easy. I did read a couple of magazines but I did get a lot of ideas through Instagram. Most things I did know just what I wanted which made it that little easier.

The Details & Décor
The centrepieces were three gold geometric lanterns with flowers in one and greenery in the other two and they were laid on a pale pink scrunched up runner. We had rose petals all down the aisle and a flower arrangement across the main fireplace in the ceremony room.
The Readings & Music
The ceremony music was just a playlist on Spotify we created.
The night time music was a DJ from a company called the Ultimate Wedding DJ.
My maid of honour was my sister Gemma, Owen’s sister Stephanie and three of my friends, Kellie, Tiffany and Lauren were my bridesmaids. Their dresses where from Asos. My niece was my flower girl and her dress was from Monsoon.
I could not have asked for anything more from these girls. The flowers where flawless. My favourite. We had 6 bouquets and 6 buttonholes. They did amazing.
The Dress & Accessories
My dress was from a bridal shop in Thornaby called Butterflies, the girl who dealt with me was so lovely, I had only been to one shop before this so had tried a couple on but not a lot. So, I went in we picked around five dresses I’d tried them on and not one I’d liked so we went out picked some more and the same happened again. I was thinking to myself shall I give up but I didn’t, I went out picked two more dresses and mine was one of them. The staff where so helpful and amazing. It just fit like a glove the detail on it was insane!
My shoes where from New Look and I bought the hair vine from eBay.
My something old and borrowed was my nanna’s wedding ring.
My something blue was a bracelet I had on with a blue stone on from Fenicks.
Carn was the best. Everyone loved him. My mum wanted to adopt him. He just made everyone feel at ease. Me and Owen are quite awkward and there’s not a photo where we look at all awkward, we were having so much fun while he was taking them.
So my ideas for my hair was I wanted it up, not neat and tidy. I wanted it messy with the vine going through it. The girls did amazing and all the girls hair looked gorgeous.
Make up I didn’t want it to be so natural, I wanted it with a little glam. So, I just went with a brown smokey eye but plenty of highlighter.
Groom & Groomsmen Outfits
The groomsmen were Owen’s brother Ross, my brother Lewis and Owen’s two friends Lewis and James. Owen’s dad and my nephew also had the same suits. They looked so cool.
Their suits were from Dandy Threads Guisborough.
Sa Coma, Majorca, Spain
We had what we called a family moon. Most people want to get away have time to themselves as a married couple which I understand totally. In our situation I have a brother, his wife and a nephew who live in America who flew back home for the wedding but were home the week after but only a couple of days before. So we took advantage of that and my mum, sister, her fiancé and my niece joined us on a family holiday.
The plan is to go to Las Vegas for our first-year anniversary.
We cant pick one I don’t think, walking down the aisle with my mum, Owen seeing me walk down the aisle, one of the bridesmaids rugby tackling her way to catch the bouquet and also the photo booth was so fun.
