Well well well, what a beauty of a wedding to begin the week with. This super stylish pair’s nuptials will fill your heart with joy and give you some gorgeous ideas to boot.
Joshua and Samantha tied the knot on the 10th September 2016 at Godwick Great Barn in Norfolk. The venue is just magical and it was filled with fairy lights and blooms, which really set the space off perfectly. A country rustic boho wedding was the vision and it was achieved by the bucket load. Elements such as the calligraphy signage, a bicycle swathed in blooms, succulents, kraft paper stationery and a buttercream cake really made their mark. It was the outfits that really blew me away though.
The flower girls were just so very cute in tutus, ballet shoes and flower crowns, they must have felt like little fairies for the day. The groomsmen donned bow ties, braces and navy suits, which complemented Joshua’s sharp Reiss suit and Mrs Bow Tie accessory. While Samantha chose a whimsical tulle gown, which she teamed with a pretty half up half down hair do and long veil. PS, I have total fringe envy right now. She looked stunning, as did the whole bridal party.
James Powell Photography, thank you so very much for sharing these incredible photographs with us.
THE PROPOSAL | On the ice rink at Central Park, New York.
THE VISION | A country style wedding, rustic in look and a boho twist.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Long, with the majority of the major decisions made early on. Due to living in Jersey but wanting to get married near family in Norfolk/Lincolnshire we had to maximise time in the UK for things to work. Budgeting all done by spreadsheet, not that this helped us stick to budget!
BUDGET | £15k, ended up £21k.
THE VENUE | Godwick Great Barn, an absolute gem, we opted for the accommodation package for the whole weekend, which added to the experience.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Fancy Frox in Spalding.
FINDING THE DRESS | Attempts to find locally in Jersey and also in London were fruitless, eventually a local search came up trumps, but to be honest we had not booked an appointment with Fancy Frox and went in on the off chance. They were excellent from start to finish.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Reiss menswear for suit, handmade shirt and Mrs Bowtie for accessories.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings were standard and from options provided by ceremony services, live music was from The Hiding – I could not recommend them enough, dance floor was packed right the way through, they are on the rocky side but that suited our guests. The DJ was through Connections Entertainment – we chose them as you can design your own playlist, music was a key part of our day and we wanted to get it spot on.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Dresses from Coast in De Gruchy and accessories were from Jersey Pearl in St Helier. The flower girls had handmade tutu’s and also had Jersey Pearl accessories.
THE FLOWERS | All done by Groom’s sisters Charlie and India Eyre, outstanding job they did to considering they are not florists!
THE CAKE | This was from Couture Cakes in Lincolnshire, we ended up going for a semi naked cake as we had been inspired by images on Pinterest.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The one and only James Powell, a fantastic photographer and a gem of a man to have around your guests. The photos are fantastic, so many adorn the walls of our apartment as it was too hard to pick a few out of the selection.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Many our own props but this was supplemented by extra bits from Penny Baldry at The Little Lending Company, Penny as it turned out was also running the show on behalf of Godwick on the big day too, she was a great support with both businesses.
THE HONEYMOON | A few days in Singapore, followed by two destinations in Bali, absolute bliss!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The best man speech, which had a number of cameos from celebrities and also when the band played Sit Down by James resulting in a twenty man pile up on the dance floor.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try to enjoy the planning as much as the day; give yourself time to go through the details without being rushed. Also, if you can find a venue which gives you access for a whole weekend we found that much less stressful, as well as giving us more time with our family in the build up.
