I have a real soft spot for Autumn woodland weddings, after all it’s exactly what my husband and I chose to do for our own wedding just over a year ago now. There is something so special about that seasonal golden light, the colour of the lush trees and the warm air yet with a slight chill in the breeze. It’s why more and more couples are choosing Autumn weddings, and quite often the weather is more settled and fair than in other seasons.
You can go two ways with an Autumn wedding, light and summery or cosy and candlelit. Today’s inspirational shooting chose the latter, and the results were magical. Think dripping luxe candles, nestled amongst rich bright seasonal blooms and metallic props. The couple looked exquisite in their boho 70s style attire and the dreamy stationery and striking cake creation really made a statement.

A Mix of 70’s Boho Stevie Nicks, English Countryside and Victoriana
“Late Autumn is fast becoming part of the “high” wedding season these days, and being surrounded by the beautiful autumnal colour palette myself (Kirsty –photographer) and Sarah Damidot (stylist) wanted to create some inspiration for an autumnal outdoorsy woodland wedding.
We really wanted to embrace the natural backdrop, showing how lush and easy it can be to create an elegant setting for any wedding. Sarah killed the styling with an earthy colour palette of emerald green, amethyst purple, cherry red, eucalyptus grey, burgundy, burnt orange and gold. Candles and fruit also play a huge part to the overall look and ambience. This warmth was mixed with moss and of course, the autumn orange leaves.”
The Look
“The Bride’s elegant bohemian styled dress from Francis Bridal, combined with the sophisticated make up, created the balance of effortless boho and natural beauty. Think 70’s Stevie Nicks meets modern days Florence Welch. The vintage lace, long-sleeved dress and shearling fur scarf also added a bit of Victorian romanticism to the outfit. The ivory lotti lace ankle boots by House of Elliot were inspired by original Victorian wedding boots, and completed the look.”
