I don’t know about you, but I have a real thing for velvet right now. It’s so on trend, so luxe and so tactile that it’s the perfect element to include in a wedding style. Whether that be in the groomswear, bride’s accessories or in bottle green table runners as featured here today. It’s a really versatile and cool fabric, which just adds edge straight away to the decadent tablescapes, which also features opulent compote flower centrepieces and gold candlesticks, all beautifully styled by Wonderlust Events. The gold and green hues really are a match made in heaven and provide the perfect contrast to the industrial feel of the venue; Clapton Country Club in East London.
The bridal looks really were breathtaking. I utterly love the tulle skirt and lace top in the first look and the edgy mohawk hair do in the second look. So awesome! I really think you’re going to enjoy these stunning images by Jessy Papasavva today. There are just so many fabulous wedding ideas!
“I wanted to put together this styled shoot to give couples inspiration for how to bring warmth and cosiness to their wedding through botanical, industrial styling. My team of amazing creative ladies elevated my brief into this stunning shoot, captured by Jessy Papasavva.
Wanting to use a venue with lots of history, nothing was more perfect then a tram shed that had been restored from reclaimed and recycled materials that were up-cycled to create an urban wedding retreat in the heart of East London. The venue was converted by the owner, Terence, after struggling to find anywhere to host his own wedding, which makes it even more special. He has now opened the doors of the ‘Clapton Country Club’ to brides and grooms looking for something heart-warming and different.
The shoot was complimented through the use of a variety of textures, fabrics and stunning flowers by ‘Some Enchanted’. Two bespoke tulle dresses by the talented Wendy Benstead, a wedding mohawk created by ‘Hero Hairstylist’ and natural but striking make up from Louise Lerego helped us transform our unconventional beautiful English rose, Hannah into a modern edgy bride.”
“Jessy Papasavva’s style is creative and natural. I had seen her Instagram portfolio and knew she was perfect for this shoot. She always picks out the perfect moments, details and colours and really embraced my vision.”
“You would have noticed on the table settings that there were also little favour bottles which were ready mixed cocktails made by ‘Myatt’s Fields Cocktails’. I loved everything from the glass bottles down to the quirky labelling and with the cocktail being an espresso martini it tied in perfectly with the colour scheme of the shoot.”
“With velvet looking to be a big trend in 2018 I wanted to focus on this as my main texture for the table styling. I then worked everything around this, particularly the colours. I complimented the bottle green table runner with whites, blacks and golds. Lynsey the florist from ‘Some Enchanted’ put together a beautiful compote centrepiece and alongside I used brass candle holders from ‘Fairly Vintage’ with white and black tapered candles. ‘Beautifully Lost Studio’ provided me with some beautiful calligraphy on textured paper, the guest names were written in dark green ink. I wanted very simple but statement crockery to match, so ‘Couvert Event Hire’ were the perfect people to help with this. I used gold cutlery, plate charges and glasses along with black plates and napkins which I then paired with a simple piece of white lace ribbon on each place setting for a ‘less is more’ look.”
“Wendy Benstead kindly made two stunning outfits for our model. Both were a top and skirt made from tulle fabric. The first outfit was the more traditional ivory with a beautiful lace top which paired beautifully with the last of the natural light we had against the external brick walls of the venue. For the second dress we moved into another area owned by Clapton Country Club called the ‘Tram Store’. Wendy had made a soft lilac/grey dress for this space which again looked stunning against the plants and the green tiles.”
Hair, Make Up & Accessories
“Kate from ‘Hero Hairstylist’ styled a relaxed hair down for the first look along with Hannah from ‘Eden B Studio’s’ hair vine. ‘Louise Lerego’ the make up artist went for a ‘English Rose’ look. For the second outfit the girls wanted to portray a more edgy vibe so a wedding mohawk was modelled along with a little heavier eye liner and another of Eden B Studio’s beautiful hair vines from her collection within the mohawk braid.”
“Mon Annie Cakes put together a three-tier square cake. They focused on deep greens and purples. They decorated the cake with splashes of gold and sugar flowers to match those in the bridal bouquet.”
