Anyway… onto today’s glorious autumnal shoot. Just as the leaves are slowly disappearing from the trees, it’s lovely to embrace and remember the stunning colours of the amazing Autumn we have just had. And if you are planning a wedding after next summer, than this one is for you. Get pinning girls!!

This shoot is perfect, using seasonal flowers and vegetables, such as the pumpkins, to capture those gorgeous orange tones. I so adore the vintage bridal gowns this shoot uses, and how beautiful is this model…. le sigh….

Thanks so much to the amazing East Midlands based wedding photographer, Lucy Stendall Photography, for submitting this amazing shoot to me today, here is what she had to say all about it;

“Our autumn vintage bridal shoot took place last month near Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. I collaborated with Unforgettable Vintage and Darby and Joan to showcase the kinds of weddings that we love – natural, seasonal, thoughtful with a vintage twist.
I first met Hannah and Rae, from Unforgettable Vintage and Karen from Darby and Joan at the Nottingham Vintage Chic Wedding Fair (http://www.vintagechicweddingfair.co.uk/) at East Bridgford Hill (http://www.eastbridgfordhill.com/) earlier this year. We all got on like a house on fire and agreed that we should meet up again.
The Unforgettable boutique is based in a Georgian manor house in the Warwickshire countryside and has extensive gardens. When Hannah and Rae invited me to look around their newly refurbished boutique (http://lucystendall.blogspot.com/2011/09/lucy-loves-unforgettable-vintage.html) I knew it would make a perfect location for a styled shoot. Karen agreed to get involved to style the event and all of our minds went into overdrive.
The girls and I continued our vintage shoot plot over afternoon tea in September (how civilised) and together we settled on a decadent but rustic harvest theme…with gourds, pumpkins and crab apples alongside fine china, silverware and accents of gold. Karen brought the ideas to life with two delightful table settings in different zones of the garden, making the textures and colours of the seasonal produce centre stage.
Our model, Ayo, works at the Unforgettable salon at weekends, helping brides who are searching for their perfect vintage look. What a natural beauty, a real starlet! We were delighted that Sanni Sorma could join us all the way from Paris to work her magic with hair and make up looks to show off some of the different eras of frocks on offer at Unforgettable. It really is a treasure trove of a shop and I’d strongly recommend a visit if you’re on a vintage dress hunt of your own. It’s not just for brides either, I’ve already found a couple of outfits for special occasions that now hang proudly in my wardrobe.
This was my first time photographing a styled shoot. I had so much fun and I love the results. I just cannot wait for the team to be together again at the next event which will be taking place early next year. We hope that the shoots will become a regular feature in our calendars. Firstly to allow us to get creative and have fun working with like minded wedding folk but more importantly because we hope that our shoots will inspire our brides and grooms. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll find a couple to hire all of us to work together on a wedding extravaganza. Watch this space…”

Here is what stylist Karen said about the shoot…

If you have come across Darby & Joan on your search for some vintage inspiration for your wedding then you will know they have an obsession with gorgeous vintage things, great photography and attention to detail.

Given the time of year, their style board suggested warm, Autumnal tones of Butterscotch, Orange Crush, Cinnamon, Claret and Pine Green.  This colour palette set the scene worked so well against the orchard at the home of Unforgettable Vintage Bridal Gowns where the shoot took place.

Karen worked her magic and selected rich orange and cream Edwardian china, paired with vintage crystal ware and silverware to add a touch of glamour to the tables. Simple flower arrangements using seasonal berries, greenery handpicked from the garden that morning and roses added to the relaxed, easy styling.

A rustic garden table, oak chairs stolen from the dining room, vintage mirrors & masses of lace added character, depth and texture to the already beautiful garden.

Pumpkins, squashes and crab apples picked from the trees in the orchard were to be a focus of the shoot, these gorgeous vibrant colours sat happily with the romantic vintage linens and the transformation of the garden was complete.

    LOVE IT!
I wanted to get married in the autumn because of all the reasons above but this year was too soon and next year toO far away so we settled on spring instead!

I love the bouquet and the use of pumpkins! So colourful!

  • I can’t get enough of the lip color of the model! :D It’s really an autumn color and I think it’s going to rock out the 2012 wedding lip color trend! :D

  • Oh, the fruits and berries styling is just perfect for the season – and delicious! It works really well with the model’s own styling and her gorgeous skin tone. Fab!

  • This shoot was so great to do – we had a really lovely, fun and productive day (and previous evening!) Everything came together when Ayo rolled in all legs, luminous skin & energy…and that was without any makeup or styling! The dresses are just to die for, the blue knee length one was a particular favourite of mine. Really excited about our next shoot together. Karen x

  • Such a gorgeous shoot and those last shots in the leopard print are fierce!

  • Hi there, it was such a lovely shoot to work on, the team was great! The lipstick in question is MAC’s Lady Danger… it’s such an amazing shade : )

  • I loved the styling and the dresses were beautiful, but aren’t brides supposed to be happy?
The model is gorgeous, but why does she look so angry/miserable in the pictures? It is a wedding shoot for goodness sake!
