We’re headed to Greece today for the beautiful destination wedding of Emma and Rob on the island of Kefalonia. They firstly married beside a chapel next to the sea after arriving via boat, before they sailed away to have some stunning portraits together. They then travelled by a super cute VW Beetle to their intimate villa reception. They held their celebrations outdoors thanks to the beautiful weather, with lanterns hung above a beautifully decorated table. Come evening fairy lights glowed, which really created a magical atmosphere.
One of my fave elements from their wedding has to be the vibrant florals. I mean, those Coral Charm Peonies in the bouquet are just everything. There was also a glorious flower arch backdrop to the ceremony, pretty flower crowns and a flower garland acting as a runner down the middle of the table.
Huge thanks goes to Cotton Candy Photography for sharing these sublime shots with us, what a treat!
The Proposal
Robert proposed on a trip to Dublin.
The Vision
Having spent the past few summers in Greece we knew we wanted to get married there. Our first holiday together 10 years ago was on the island of Kefalonia, we visited the island inspired by the book Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
For the ceremony we found a cute chapel by the sea reachable by boat.
For the reception we wanted something quirky/rustic/fairytale. We loved the idea of a villa with a small group of family and friends to celebrate.
The Planning Process
I found Mythos Weddings online and began contacting Carol the wedding planner from the website, through skype contact we began planning our wedding.
The Venue
I found the villa on booking.com and absolutely fell in love! A beautiful orange quirky historical building renovated by the Greek owner.
The Readings & Music
We had a poem read from the book Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your root was so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.

The Flowers
Mythos Weddings florist designed the most beautiful bunch of flowers inspired by a mood board I had created. I wanted colourful traditional Greek flowers.
Your Photographer
The wonderful Gem from cottoncandyweddings.co.uk
We could not have asked for a more wonderful photographer, from the moment we started talking I knew Gem was the one for us! Her website first enticed me with her outstanding eye for detail. I wanted a photographer that could capture the beauty of the villa and make us feel super comfortable. The images Gem produced we will be treasuring forever!
Going beyond photography we have some wonderful memories with Gem, driving off on our own adventures around the island finding spots to take pictures.
I explained to Gem that I really wanted some woodland pictures as I love the Greek olive trees, she worked her magic in creating some of my favourite images from the day.
Gem stayed right till the end of the evening capturing all the mealtime fun and our beautiful first dance sung by my brother and his acoustic guitar.
The Cake
Chocolate cheesecake
The Details & Decor
Carol our wedding planner went above and beyond to find the perfect decor, we wanted a very rustic/fairytale vibe with fairylights and lanterns scattered around the villa with quirky furniture and accessories.
