I have all the Halloween Autumn vibes today thanks to this Italy elopement ideas editorial. There is something about the historic empty and very grand setting of Villa Arconati, the way that photographer Gradisca Portento has captured the whole affair so beautifully and the story that inspired the creative team that makes it so hauntingly beautiful. The whole set of images really evokes a feeling of romance and love. I had goosebumps watching the beautiful film accompanying this feature captured by Andrew Mackenzie Filmmaker, I highly recommend checking it out.
So what do I love about this shoot today? The opulent flowers, the flowing gowns, the flawless hair and make up, the groom’s hat, the tablescape decked in candles, the incredible cakes and elegant stationery. All of it then! Yes indeed, it’s all just so very dreamy. Enjoy.
Italy Elopement Ideas
The inspiration was born the first time I saw a photo of Villa Arconati. I immediately fell in love with this baroque palace in which I imagined an intimate wedding.
The work is an alternation of shadows and lights and the pastel colours deliberately have a dusty aspect to match the rooms of the residence.
Villa Arconati is one of the historic villas of the Groane Park, located in Bollate, in the hamlet of Castellazzo di Bollate from which it takes its name. It is an example of 18th century Lombard Baroque and has been declared a national monument. For its large and grandiose style, the small Italian Versailles was defined in the eighteenth-century guides.
In the shoot we told the elopement in Italy of a young English couple. Elisabeth promised to marry another man, falls in love with Gregory (the stableman’ son) and runs away with him to Italy in the family summer residence where the two young men grew up together. A romanticism of an ancient time that gives the shooting a slightly retro attitude.
