I have been dying to share this beautiful wedding for what feels like forever now, and i hope you enjoy these images as much as i have.
Sophie and Jeff were married in March at the stunning Inglewood Manor, Cheshire. They wanted their wedding to be glamorous and theatrical, with a hint to old Hollywood glamour. And boy oh boy did they achieve that.
Sophie must be the most glamorous bride i have ever seen, she looks like a starlet from an era gone by. Her bouquet was incredible, i mean she did giver her florist a brief of ‘Vivienne Westwood’ so you wouldn’t expect any less.
I adore the peacock theme, the pretty bridesmaids, and those amazing sunlit portraits.. wow.
Thanks so much to the amazing CG Weddings for sharing their imagery with us today.
Names…. Sophie & Jeff
Wedding Date…. 24th March 2012
The Proposal…. A break away in one of our favourite cities, York for my (Sophie’s) birthday. A beautiful black and white boutique hotel, Jeff proposed on the night of my birthday to my complete surprise. The ring he gave me was beautiful, a little vintage with a modern twist.
The Vision for the day…. Glamorous and theatrical, with a hint to old Hollywood glamour.
The Planning process…. 18 months of planning – in the meantime I started a new Bridal company called Diane Harbridge – 3 months before the wedding – so we had a very busy 2013! The wedding crept up so quick we didn’t get much sleep the final 3 weeks before.
The Venue… Inglewood Manor
The Dress + Accessories….. The dress was a bargain that I found on sale from a boutique in Chester (I bought it a year before I started doing wedding dresses with Diane, but I love it because it’s very different and has retro pleating which is difficult to find nowadays). The veil was simple, I rouched it to sit on the back of my head (my bridesmaids sewed it to my hair) and the headdress we used in a photo-shoot for the Diane Harbridge wedding dresses and I fell in love with it. I wore my great-great grandmother’s bracelet, my nan’s crystals, a pearl bracelet Jeff bought me from an antique shop and some sequin pumps for comfort!
Finding the dress…. I had been to several boutiques with an entourage of bridesmaids, mother and grandparents, tried on hundreds of dresses and couldn’t find ‘the one’. Then I wandered past a window of a boutique in Chester, spotted this gown in the sale and bought it without hesitation. My whole family was shocked as I did it by myself!!
Groom’s attire… We wanted something classic that matched the ‘Hollywood’ glamour theme, so simple suits with a slight sheen seemed to sit well and were a great bargain – from Next! We ordered pocket squares and ties to match the bridesmaid dresses.
The Readings + Music…. The reading was Daffodils, our favourite poem, plus the grounds at Inglewood were peppered with them. We wrote our own vows, nothing cheesy but from the heart. A string quartet played as I walked down the aisle it was magical!
Beautiful bridesmaids….. My gorgeous 7 bridesmaids! I simply couldn’t choose between my friends so I had them all, and I’d been a bridesmaid so many times I just went with it. I wanted them to equally have a glamorous, sparkly look so kitted them out in deep plum satin dresses, the beaded capes (£3 each!) and feathers in their hair.
The Flowers… The most beautiful flowers I have ever seen! Paul Burrell designed them completely – I told him to think of Vivien Westwood when he created them. He outdid my expectations with an OTT, theatrical bouquet in lime green with peacock feathers to pop against the plum dresses. He made table decorations to match.
The Cake… A simple sponge cake from Marks & Spencer!
Your Photographer…. The amazing Liam Crawley from CG Weddings… I was ecstatic when I saw the wedding photos – they are amazing and captured our day perfectly. I hate to be photographed but Liam put me completely at ease, both of us enjoyed the experience I would definitely recommend.
The Details + Decor…. Paul Burrell, decorated all the rooms for me, they looked absolutely stunning, again very theatrical, in plum with lovely dashes of colour from the peacock feathers.
The Honeymoon…. We are still waiting to go on Honeymoon as I can’t leave the business so early in the start up, but we have a gorgeous hotel booked in Italy for later in summer. We spent a couple of nights in the Lake District straight after the day, the weather was beautiful so it was lovely to relax in the sun as husband and wife.
Memorable moments… Seeing my flowers, Mark reading Daffodils, seeing each other at the aisle – I was completely overwhelmed with emotion which is so unlike me!
Advice for other couples… Relax and enjoy the day, make your wedding how you want, don’t stress over getting everything perfect.
