What a treat we have in store for you today folks! We have the pleasure of sharing WWW followers Kieron and Jessica’s wedding with you, which was held on the 11th May 2019 at Hirst Priory in Lincolnshire. They described their day to me as ‘wild and wonderful’, and it really sums up their fun festival vibe celebrations, which was filled to the brim with love and happiness.
They were married in the beautiful woodland, with an outdoor ceremony location decorated with festoon lights and a greenery archway, followed by a magical tipi reception. Think dream catchers, fairy lights, rustic wooden touches and pretty blooms all round. There was also a lot of style, I am just loving all the outfit choices, too cool!
Kieron popped the question in Thailand Koh Phi Phi we’ve travelled around Thailand a few times and we love it.
We went snorkelling and Kieron had tied the engagement ring to his swim shorts, whilst diving for shells he’d got the ring off his shorts and swam up to me with it. At first I thought he’d found a ring on the ocean floor then he asked me to marry him and I nearly drowned.
We love festivals and music so we knew when we started planning that was the vibe we wanted to go for. Tipis looked awesome and being outside in the woods was right up our street.
The Planning Process
We went to only one wedding fair and nothing really jumped out at us, Pinterest was the biggest part of planning, searching for ideas it’s great.
We knew we wanted it to be colourful and crazy like us and to get some awesome entertainment was a must.
We were very fortunate with our budget and had lots of help but yes the wedding cost A LOT.
Hirst Priory was the first and last venue we went to see. Booked straight away, I’d known Hazel for a long time and the fact they worked with Serentipi was a winner. They had just started doing the outdoor woodland ceremonies so it was a no brainer. Hazel was fab and Jamie they made it such an easy no stress process.
Your Outfits & Accessories
I got my dress from Belle & Bouquet after trying on several dresses worth up to £2,000 the lady there said she had a dress she thought I’d like.
I put it on and instantly it was, and it was nothing like I thought I’d go for, it was like it was made for me, she proceeded to tell me the price and it was in the SALE £225 and I felt a million dollars. The belt was an extra I chose and they sewed it on for me.
It was a difficult challenge for the guys as we wanted brown and at the time brown wasn’t the in colour. Luckily we found Stella at dapper suits. She was a god send, Kieron found his perfect suit 3 piece Tweed Marc Darcy London suit but it was discontinued.
We decided that he would wear that and find a waistcoat for the guys that complimented, Stella found them paired with black trousers, white shirts, brown shoes and custom made ties to match the bridesmaids dresses. And it all looked amazing.
Kieron got all the lads matching socks, and a personalised hip flask full of their favourite tipple. Along with cuff links and tie clasp.
Halo by Hazel was my hair and makeup artist as well as my wedding organiser and it was just perfect I don’t wear a lot of makeup so wanted natural and she did just that. She also did my mum, mother in law and maid of honour and sister in law and they all looked beautiful.
My maid of honour is also a makeup artist so she did the bridesmaids and they all looked smoking hot.
A combination of new and old friends made up the grooms party 5 of them in total, best man full on joker, we had great apprehension about his speech although he appeared more nervous than the groom but still delivered with minimal swearing.
The others Kieron has known for years including one who flew from Australia to be part of our special day.
The Readings & Music
We’re not religious so a church wedding was out the question. We wanted it short and sweet and that’s what we did no readings no hymns.
The party was the main thing for us, we wanted full on festival vibes so we booked piano DJ, a pianist all through the day playing our favourite tunes, from house music, teenage dirtbag to queen where the entire party sang along to bohemian rhapsody. The DJ on his pioneers accompanied by saxophonist playing our favourite house and techno music was a highlight of the whole evening, where friends got me and Kieron on their shoulders singing I am giant (purple disco machine remix) at the top of our voices.
I had 6 bridesmaids all my best friends some people thought it was a lot but I had no doubt I wanted them all. One in which is now my sister in law, we bonded as soon as we met 6 years ago.
The bridesmaids dresses were from KF Bridal, I’m not the most organised of people, I’d spent quite a long time looking for the perfect dresses I knew I wanted earthy tones to go with the woodland theme I’d had a few swatches from different places and nothing was right until the pale moss green arrived. We loved it and the leafy detailed bodices. The only issue at that point was they were from America and would take 3 months to get to us made to order. It was January at that point so the girls took a big risk and we ordered without them trying them on, they came in March a month earlier than predicted and we loved them, they did need altering but we was expecting that. They were perfect and have had many compliments on them.
I’d got all the girls a gold leaf pendant from accessorize and a gold leaf hair pin.
We were recommended Campbell Flowers and boy did they deliver, I’m not clued up on flowers so I left it in Tracey’s capable hands. I wanted vibrant colourful for my bouquet and the flower arch and then greens and whites for bridesmaids, tables and trampoline hoop and it all looked incredible, it was a nice surprise for me seeing it all when Tracey brought it as I’d only shown her a few styles that I liked and said do your thing.
Well what can I say, I’m almost speechless which doesn’t happen very often, I’d looked at quite a few photographers then Charlotte my maid of honour had done a wedding makeup where Kazooieloki had been working she’d said how amazing they were so that confirmed it for me and didn’t hesitate to get them booked.
The photos speak for themselves they’ve made my dreams come true I love photographs, they are the things that last forever.
I’d always wanted a videographer but it was more of a second thought when the budget was getting more and more, I found Ian at the Lincoln Picture Company through bidvine after a few people had contacted me I decided to book Ian and he fitted in a treat, festival lover and was going to Thailand the very next day on his 5th visit.
Cannot wait for the video back.
Kieron’s mum with help from his auntie made the cake, I’d shown her a couple of photos off Pinterest but again I wasn’t a bridezilla so said just go with it. We ended up with a 6 tier extravaganza that looked magnificent, and tasted as good as it looked, we served the cake for dessert in the evening and it went down a treat.
The Details & Décor
Jamie at Serentipi was magical, after booking them I decided I wanted multi coloured lanterns as one of the features, the tipis came with full fairy lights, dance floor, fire pit, lighting, bar and chill furniture. We had heating on stand by and did end up using it, although all us on the the dance floor would of said otherwise, those that weren’t dancing were feeling it.
I’d made the dream catchers myself, roping in some of my bridesmaids to help, I’d got stuff from friends that had got married the year before, we got cable drums for tables, bought second hand sofas off eBay for the grandmas sitting room with a lamp from his actual grandmas, fancy dress box that we’ve accumulated over the years, and a piano that our best man had got from a house removal and it all turned out exactly how we’d planned.
We did the table names from festivals we’ve been to together and transferred the festival logos on to wood same with the seating plan, Kieron made out of pallets.
Kieron’s dad did the wood chunks from a tree he cut down the year before and I ordered wooden place names online.
Skiathos, Greece. We were going to book Sri Lanka but decided against it and good job we did. Sun, sea and olives J full on chill that’s what we wanted. Loved every second but it’s nice now to have a clear mind, it had took over for a while but it was so so worth it. BEST DAY EVER!
The ceremony, was a highlight even though it was the scariest bit it turned out to be the best, the beef oh my it was memorable, and the whole night dancing with our nearest and dearest, the dance floor was never empty, the sax was out of this world we were crying with happiness at one point.
