Grey Wedding Ideas Inspired by Cloudy Skies

The timing of this beautiful grey wedding ideas editorial couldn’t be more perfect. If there has been one positive from lock-down for me it has to be the way it’s taken me back to appreciating the simple things and the beauty of the nature surrounding me. This darling shoot is inspired by grey skies and stunning clouds, so even though we may have lost the balmy sunshine this week, take a look up at the grey skies and really appreciate their beauty. They inspired the team that curated this amazing shoot (Rebecca Marie Weddings & Events was behind the concept, styling and coordination) and I have to say Grace Elizabeth Photography captured the whole affair ever so beautifully.

So just what do I love about this cloudy inspired set of wedding images? The stunning colour palette teamed with an array of greenery and foliage (just wait until you see the bouquet!), the stylish attire, the refined stationery, the dreamy tablescape adorned with wonderful touches and so many on trend accessories all set at The Old Barn. Oh my.

Grey Wedding Ideas

The inspiration for this shoot was taken from the grey skies and clouds. Typically we wish them away and look at them simply as passing clouds, forgetting to admire the beauty in the stormy skies with the rolling layers and difference of grey tones. We focused primarily on a palette of greys in order to demonstrate it is not necessary to introduce countless colours into your styling. We chose these greys to directly reflect the winter skies and layered them with different tones and textures and pops of foliage.

Floren Studio completely nailed the brief and used almost only foliage to create the most beautiful bouquet and cloud that sat delicately above the tablescape. We used a fog machine to quite literally create clouds to surround the cake who’s details directly reflected a stormy sky, complete with drizzle by the incredible Peboryon. Another unforgettable detail would have to the beautiful grey skirt from E & W Couture which contrasted against The Old Barn’s whitewashed walls.
