As I sit here writing about this divine garden picnic wedding inspiration, the sun is shining on the warmest day of the year so far. I am yearning to sit with loved ones in my garden with a picnic and celebrate after what’s been an incredibly challenging year. The shoot has really brought a sense of serenity and happiness to my day, with a radiant, happy bride and gorgeous styling. Heledd Roberts and Ivy Pip and Rose came together with a select group of wedding suppliers to inspire couples looking for a simple and small wedding celebration.
I really adore the striking red and pink colour palette, which is super modern and cool. There were utterly gorgeous flowers, exquisite stationery and beautiful gowns. This really is a very special set of images, enjoy.
Planning a large scale wedding inspired shoot, in times dominated by COVID, seemed somehow inappropriate. We wanted to show couples what could be achieved, quickly, for an intimate/micro/backyard inspired by a garden picnic celebration.
As the coordinator of the shoot and the florist – I was keen to keep an open mind with colours and specific flowers, buying from a local grower and working with what I had in the garden. Dahlias are such country garden type flowers, but twinned with minimal foliage in these modern vessels from Zara, kept the look contemporary.
We worked with two dresses. One a gorgeous simple silk sheath dress from Rembo Styling. For the other, with some brides choosing to keep their wedding dress for a bigger celebration, or with their chosen dress not yet ready, we picked white summer dress as a High St. alternative. The cheesecloth wrap dress was from H&M.
Although the day may be much smaller than anticipated couples donβt have to compromise on style and can treat themselves to a few details to make the day special.
Coloured linens – the dusty pink linen tablecloth completely lifts the tablescape – and was an inexpensive purchase from H&M. Simple menu cards on each place setting, and a flower, add that special touch without breaking the bank. To jazz up your cocktails or drinks add edible flowers, or herbs into the ice-cubes. Prettiness and flavour combined! Blankets spread around the lawn, cushions added to the relaxed vibe.
