We’re in Northern Ireland today, at the Dark Hedges Estate to be precise, for a moody, ethereal wedding editorial shoot. The results are so magical, they really took my breath away. First up, the location really is ever so special, with an otherworldly quality and it’s entered my wish list of places to visit thanks to these remarkable images by Tara Florence. Game of Thrones fans, you may recognise the backdrop to the image above as it’s featured in the TV series and The Dark Hedges are in fact used as The Kingsroad. I am a huge fan of GOT and I for one cannot wait for the new series to start (16 days! Ekk), so these beautiful captures have got me all the more excited.
You are just going to adore the stunning wedding dresses and accessories here, I mean hello feather capes and ruffles for days! Then there are the autumnal feel florals and the extraordinary cake creation. Wow wee! Do keep your eyes peeled for flawless hair and make up, plus divine calligraphy stationery too. Swoon.
Moody & Ethereal Wedding Ideas
One thing that always strikes me when flying over to the Emerald Isle is the shade of green that can be seen from the aeroplane window, a colour so rich that I’m sure it is entirely exclusive to Ireland. When looking at locations for a moody and windswept shoot, we agreed the Irish Coastal Causeway was the perfect place. After landing at Belfast airport, a road trip with my team of MUA Joanne Tromans and stylist extraordinaire Daisy Keane from Fairytale Weddings, led us to some extraordinary and unplanned finds. Kinbane Castle, a ruined castle off the north coast, was beguiling and unforgettable. Daisy teamed pieces from Eliza Jane Howell and incorporated ruffles, feathers and capes which worked perfectly against the rugged landscape. Our model Molly was the perfect Celtic Queen, (all 5ft 10 inches of her!) and we were super lucky to team the amazing dresses with floral pieces by Janet of Flower Room Belfast (we really love that gorgeous floral anklet!).
We then headed to the Dark Hedges, which you may recognise as being featured in Game of Thrones. The lovely Ciara of Weddings at Tiffanys set up a gorgeous tablescape featuring more of Janet’s blooms and beautiful bespoke stationery by Inkflower Press.
The ever awe inspiring Elizabeth from Lilibet Bakes hand made sugar flowers to compliment the colour scheme of the flowers – yes those flowers on the cake are entirely hand made!
Big thanks to the amazing team who worked together through tough time restraints and tougher weather to make it happen. I hope you enjoy.
