Gracious me do we have a pretty wedding to share with you all! And it’s no wonder at all seeing as bride Scarlett is part of the wedding industry herself.
WWW readers Scarlett and Rob were married at the Gamekeeper’s Inn in Yorkshire on the 9th of June 2018. They envisioned a fun, relaxed party wedding with the most beautiful pink and burgundy colour scheme. It was all so romantic in their venue, what with the abundance of florals, fairy lights and ceiling drapes. What a way to say I do in total and utter style!
Talking of style, how darling are the mix and match bridesmaid dresses? I love the combination of plain and printed fabrics, it works perfectly. Scarlett’s feather frock was just all kinds of gorgeous on her while Rob donned a dapper check suit.
There is so much to take in thanks to these sublime shots by Fairclough Studios, thanks so much for sharing them with us guys.
We were away for our first family holiday in Cala D’or in June 2016 celebrating my 30th birthday and also our friend’s wedding. We decided to go to the marina for breakfast on the morning of my birthday and Rob suggested opening cards when we’d picked somewhere to eat. We ordered fizz with full breakfasts and I began to open my cards. Rob had written a happy birthday message inside the card with the words “ I just have one question to ask “ When I looked up he was holding a ring! It was such a surprise and totally unexpected, without a doubt my most favourite birthday ever!
We knew we definitely wanted something relaxed and a wedding that reflected us as a couple. We aren’t religious so we didn’t want any readings during the ceremony, or a traditional 3 course wedding breakfast. We wanted to bring our personalities to the day and share it with all of our favourite people. The accent colours were always burgundy and pinks with pops of white and gold. I have a small candle obsession so envisaged lots of candles running through soft fabrics to create a romantic yet relaxed vibe.
The Planning Process
After we had booked our venue, we focused on securing our photographers, videographers and florist. Knowing these suppliers would be in demand we wanted to make sure we got our date booked. I loved thinking of new ideas for the wedding and wanted to bring the details alive. Working alongside Sam Williams Flowers was inspirational and I was very lucky to set up so many beautiful weddings and get a feel for what we would like on our day. We had several visits to the Gamekeepers Inn for a look round, any excuse for lunch and a glass of fizz we loved to go and spend time there. Working in the wedding industry I was always meeting new people in the business which made the planning lots of fun and easy to pick our dream team.
We are very thankful to our amazing parents, they helped us out so much and we feel very lucky to of been able to get everything we had. We never had an original budget in mind, we just knew we wanted to spend the money wisely. It was really important to us to invest in our photographers and videographers. After all, these are the memories you relive after the big day is over.
Charlotte Laskey was our MUA for the day and she was fantastic! Charlotte was so much more than just our make up artist, she was a friend and helped us with some last minute glitches. I wanted quite a natural look and after having a trial we got the desired look straight away.
I decided for my hair I wanted a loose messy up do to go with the vibe of the day. I choose Loved by Ashley as I’ve been going to them for a while now loving the results every time. I went for my hair trial and Ashley got the look I wanted in the first attempt! The bridesmaids choose their styles and had gold feather slides with fresh flowers from Sam Williams Flowers.
The Gamekeepers Inn is set in the idyllic scenery of the Yorkshire Dales featuring oak beams, natural stonework, terrace and gardens. The venue was the perfect blank canvas for us and we loved the feel of the place. Right from the beginning Stuart and Claire were very accommodating and we loved how laid back they were.
After working with Sam Williams over the past year I really have seen amazing bouquet after amazing bouquet! Sam is the most creative and passionate person I have ever met and I trusted her 100% for a total surprise on our wedding day. When my flowers arrived in the morning I was absolutely blown away, my bouquet was phenomenal. Sam used King Protea, Peonies, Roses, French Ruscus, Eucalyptus, Asparagus and sword fern to create a wild yet romantic bouquet. I feel so lucky to have this amazing flower queen in my life. It really made the day extra special seeing what Sam had created for us.
I walked down the aisle to Mumford & Sons – There will be time.
Just married we walked out to American Authors – Best day of my life. First Dance – John Legend – You And I.
We had 5 older bridesmaids and 1 flower girl. The bridesmaids wore Chi Chi London, pink and floral tea length dresses teamed with blush and gold Jenny Packham stilettos.
I searched for ages trying to find the right bridesmaid dresses, I didn’t want anything traditional and really liked the mix and match look. The dresses teamed with Sam Williams amazing flowers were just a perfect match.
Our flower girl Lila wore a handmade tutu dress by number Eleven handmade teamed with burgundy and velvet converse and a matching balloon wand to walk down the aisle. Lila also wore a personalised mini leather jacket from Born to be Wild Bridal.
Your Outfits & Accessories
I visited a stunning local boutique with my wedding party and fell in love with my dress; “ Leonie “ by Enzonai. I never imagined myself to wear a big white wedding dress and I knew that I wanted something different. After trying my dress on I knew that was the one! The colour, the feathers, the detail – everything about it was perfect! I teamed my dress with nude gladiator heals from Dune. For my something old I had an old sixpence, my something new was a tree of life bracelet from my mum’s, my something borrowed was my step mum’s rose gold delicate stud earrings and lastly my something blue was “ I do “ on the bottom of my shoes.
For the ceremony I wore a champagne and pearl headpiece teamed with a long champagne veil. I wanted to have different looks throughout the day and swapped the pearls for a stunning flower crown later in the day.
I wore Jo Malone Rose Velvet and Oud fragrance combined with Peony and Blush body creme. It was such a nice bridal experience to go shopping to Jo Malone for a special scent.
I had a custom painted leather jacket from the amazingly talented Alex from Born to be Wild Bridal for later in the day, me and my flower girl rocked these out and I later took my leather and flower crown on honeymoon!
Rob wore Scott by Marc Darcy from Bridgewater Menswear. The groomsmen wore matching ties, plain white shirts and trousers from Next. We wanted the men to be comfortable and less formal.
Maxwell our page boy wore a white shirt, matching blue pants, braces, trilby hat and burgundy Vans.
After meeting Laura from Sugar Fancies Bakery we fell in love with her designs and her attention to detail was impeccable. After lots of delicious samples we decided on two tiers, coconut and lime and chocolate salted caramel other than that we gave Laura free rein with the design and we were absolutely delighted with the end result. Laura also made treats for the bridesmaid boxes and the most amazing Oreo chocolates, chocolate covered strawberries and macrons for our bridal prep.
The Details & Décor
For me the décor and flowers were really important. Having my own business within the wedding industry I really wanted our wedding to reflect my style and belief that it is all in the detail.
Sam Williams dressed the room with gorgeous burgundy drapes and greenery, candles galore, soft running fabrics and floral garlands dotted around the room. It really was breathtaking walking in before we said I do.
Our favourite décor was our charity shop revamped dessert table dresser. I found the dresser in a charity shop and knew it had potential. With the help of my younger brother Frazer and family friend Bernard we transferred it from an old shabby dresser to a fresh white beautiful dessert station. Sam Williams packed flowing blooms in to the bottom draw whilst Laura from Sugar Fancies added the delicious sweet treats.
I’d booked as a surprise the “It was always you“ neon sign from Brides Little Helper and it was a real statement piece. It is such an amazing backdrop for our photographs.
Outside on the terrace we had some giant 3ft balloons in burgundy and pink and these looked amazing with matching ribbons.
We had lots of activities for guests during the day, a photo booth, tattoo station, games. The children had a “No Adults allowed“ Teepee and that went down really well, they loved the fact it was an area just for them (Although the adults couldn’t resist a few selfies inside).
Fairclough Studios – What can we say about these two? Other than they are pretty freaking awesome!! We met up with Katie and James over a coffee in their hometown of Lytham St Annes and instantly knew we wanted them to shoot our wedding. After researching lots of other photographers, their work really stood out and we loved their passion for natural shots and details. We really wanted them to capture the fun and laughter of our wedding without too many prompted photos.
We met up with Katie and James for our pre wedding shoot a couple of weeks prior to the wedding and this really helped to ease our nerves and feel more comfortable on the wedding day. Katie and James are so lovely we haven’t just gained some awesome wedding photos we gained two friends as well!
We choose S and S Videography after seeing them at a couple of our friends wedding. We really liked the idea of the same day edit being played on the evening of the wedding. Our evening guests got to see a 4 minute video from the bridal prep, speeches and highlights from the day. He used a drone to achieve incredible aerial shots! We are so glad we had a videographer to capture the day.
We flew to Barcelona for our Honeymoon and stayed at the H10 Marina. It was lovely to get away straight after the wedding as we were still in our wedding bubble. You really are totally overwhelmed and on cloud 9 after the wedding. We took a sunset cruise, ate at a Michelin star restaurant and enjoyed wine tasting in a bodega. Definitely not our everyday lifestyle or usual kind of holiday but that’s what made it so special.
The night before the wedding Rob had a meal with his Groomsmen at the Gamekeepers Inn and I ate at a local restaurant with my bridal party. We all met up again at the Gamekeepers for a nightcap. There had been a function on for the local choir so the bar was pretty full and crowded… The choir found out we were getting married in the morning and serenaded us with three songs. It was pretty surreal a pub full of people we hadn’t met was singing to us and it really felt like a special start to the wedding celebrations!
Sneaking away for our wedding photos just after we got married. It was so nice to have that time out and that whooo hoooo we are married moment.
My older brother Andrew surprised us with a magician on the day, Mark Waddington. Mark was amazing, such a talented guy he really brought a lot to the wedding and everyone loved him.
I remember sitting at the top table looking at the room full of our family and friends feeling overwhelmed, loved and very very happy.
For our evening do we had a great mix of party people, a DJ, sax player and bongo player. We had some glitter artists come to sparkle everyone up and a DIY tattoo station these really contributed to the party vibe we wanted and everyone loved getting involved with the fun.
