This real wedding today left me spellbound, I mean it just ticks all of the boxes. Beautiful gown, check, stunning location, check, gorgeous florals, check, super loved up couple, check. Yes this wedding really does have it all, I have no doubt it’ll leave you feeling totally inspired and pinning away for your own Pinterest boards to boot.
WWW readers Mandy and Andy had a glorious Autumnal (albeit muddy) day for their nuptials, which were held on the 23rd September 2017. Mandy tells me their wedding day was “filled with love, glitter, dancing and pork pies”, does it get any better?
Their day was pretty pretty pretty and Mandy’s undeniably stunning floral gown “Untamed Love” by Charlotte Balbier certainly set the tone and feel for their day. Think pastel colours, divine blooms, an exquisite naked cake tower and garden theme décor. Mandy and Andy, not to mention their wedding party, all looked sublime in their attire. The whole affair was captured perfectly and we have Alfred & Co Photography to thank for sharing these images with us today.
THE PROPOSAL | Andy convinced me he had booked a weekend away glamping in a muddy corner of Cornwall. I reluctantly went along and came fully prepared with wellies and sleeping bags. On our way he turned off the road and headed to a very nice hotel with lodges. He hired the most amazing apartment that overlooked the sea. When I got over the shock that we weren’t staying in a tent he got down on one knee and proposed. I was so surprised! We spent the rest of the evening drinking champagne in the hot tub under the stars!
THE VISION | The most important thing for us was that all our friends and family were there and didn’t want to be scrimping on the guest list. We are both very laid back, so the idea of a formal traditional wedding in a fancy hotel didn’t appeal to us but a rustic one did!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Like all brides the first thing I did was hit Pinterest hard! I had boards for EVERYTHING from dresses to cakes, buttonholes, invites and even napkin designs!
BUDGET | £12,000
THE VENUE | We had our heart set on a tipi wedding but thought we couldn’t afford it so we booked a venue in Ripponden. However 6 weeks before our wedding the venue had problems with their licence so it fell through! Arghh!
Invites had be sent, transport and hotels booked, we were having a nightmare. We couldn’t cancel the day so we just cracked on and looked for another venue.
Tipi Tent Hire came to the rescue and offered us a really good deal all we had to do was find a field and Whittaker Golf Club said yes!
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was by Charlotte Balbier and called Untamed Love.
Me and my mum made my veil on the cheap for £4.75.
FINDING THE DRESS | I first saw my dress on Pinterest and then at a wedding fair at Tatton Park. It was over budget but I couldn’t get it out of my head, I searched for a stockist and found one in Wakefield called Lace & Co Boutique. I tried it on and it was perfect, I had to have it!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Andy is definitely not a hat and tails sort of guy. Keeping his shirt tucked in is a challenge for him, especially after a few drinks.
He settled on blue suit with tweed waistcoat and bow tie. We hired all the suits all from Debenhams for him the the best man and Dads.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | We got married in St Andrews Church so we had to have a bible readings. We also has another reading which is actually a Barbara Streisand song called I’ve Dreamed Of You.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had six bridesmaids, my sisters Louise and Heather, Andy’s sister Beth and three friends Rachel, Ashleigh and Gemma. All their dresses came from ASOS and were a bargain at £37 each!
THE FLOWERS | The day before the wedding the mums and aunties got together and made our beautiful flower arrangements from flowers we had bought from Morrisons throughout the week.
We hired a great florist called The Flower Bomb in Littleborough to do the bouquets, buttonholes and hair pieces.
THE CAKE | I knew I wanted a naked cake so my sister volunteered to make it. She enjoys making cakes so I left her to her own devices. I was blown away with what she did, it looked amazing. She even made two garden gnomes out out Fimo modelled on me and Andy for the top.
She also made all the wedding favours which were edible flower pots cakes.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Alfred & Co Photography, I can’t recommend Kirsty enough she was amazing… a wedding fairy godmother!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Tables – We had a garden theme so used fake grass as table runners and found pots and tubs for the flowers.
LOVE sign – we looked at hiring a love sign but couldn’t justify the cost. So Andy made one for the cost of a box of screws and old pallets.
Table plan – our table plan was over 6ft tall and and a bit of a maze. At the time of planning it was a good idea, but on the day it caused the older guests a headache… it looked awesome though!
THE HONEYMOON | We spent all our money on the wedding so we need a few more months to save for our honeymoon, which we are going on at Easter. We are going a tour of California, starting in San Fran and ending in Vegas. I can’t wait!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | We hired a band called the Jager Maestros, they are an oompah band and were fantastic. They got everyone up swaying, dancing and drinking.
It rained so much in the run up to the wedding. On the actual day is was so muddy but no one seemed to care. My dress was covered in mud!
My mum brought the wedding favours up to the tipi and an the way up she went over a cattle grid at speed and tipped them all. So we had a mad rush putting them all back together.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don’t worry about the weather even if you plan an outdoor wedding, you can’t do anything about it, just make the best of it.
Things go wrong along the way. and if something big happens like your venue goes bump, don’t stress, family and friends will come to the rescue!
Choose between spending money or spending your time. If you have the time to do things yourself, do it! You can save so much money and it feels great when everything comes together at the end.
The day goes so quickly so make sure you and your partner take an some time away from everything and to appreciate what you’ve done.
