Rustic Winter Elegance Inspiration

Afternoon lovelies :-)

With the colder weather drawing in, i thought i would share some rustic winter inspiration all the way from the US of A! Hessian, ribbon and candles, with a bride donning a cardie… all make for a cosy yet elegant feel. I hope this wets your appetite for the winter weddings coming your way soon….

Thanks so much to the lovely Mary Melissa Johnson of First City Events for submitting this wonderful shoot to me, here is what she had to say;

“My name is Mary Melissa and I am addicted to winter weddings.  So I was thrilled when Ai-Ling Chang and I decided to collaborate on this winter wedding inspired photo shoot.    Working with several local vendors and a great venue, we had an amazing time at this photo shoot.

My main concept for this shoot was rustic elegance.  I decided to use white and shades of silver for the color story.  I thought it would give a wonderful contrast and would highlight the natural features of Old Fort Jackson.  Built in 1808, the fort is a hidden gem in Savannah, GA.    With it’s beautiful grounds, serene views, and rumored ghost haunting, it was an enchanting atmosphere for our shoot.

On the first day, we decided to focus on the lounge area and the table setting.  Savannah Special Events provided the white armchairs in the lounge area.

Focusing on details we used interesting “vintage” charms, ribbon balls, candles and lanterns in the lounge area.  The burlap/ribbon wrapped candleholders used in this area were one of my favorite items from the shoot.   The floral design by Amy Harvey Designs was incorporated into the lounge area and the table setting.  For the table, the vines from the floral arrangement weave between the teapots and antique candleholders. The rough-edged burlap table runner stood out against the white tablecloth. Foregoing the typical napkin rings, we decided to use burlap, silver ribbon and “vintage” charms to create a unique place setting option.

On the second day, we focused on Bridal Fashion.  Lara made a lovely bride in the Vera Wang gown provided by Bleu Belle Bridal.  Tiffony Simpson of Ony Salon created a stunning up-do. Megan Mateo decided to keep the make-up simple and emphasize Lara’s hazel eyes.  We decided to keep the accessories to a minimal.

Thank you to all the vendors that made the photo shoot possible!  I would like to thank a few special people – My Boss, Bonnie for providing support and acting as my assistant during the photo shoot; Ai-Ling’s and Lara’s husbands for providing assistance on our second day; the staff of Old Fort Jackson; and finally my mom and dad for encouraging me to follow my dreams.”

Isn’t it fab to see a new take on winter wedding inspiration? See you tomorrow ;-) xoxo
