I just adore this Edwardian inspired bridal shoot, with lilac colours and mid century details.
Thanks so much to Fig Photography for allowing me to share their images this afternoon.
“The shoot was photographed by Krystina of Fig Photography and styled by Kate of Lavender & Linen at Elmore Court in Gloucestershire in September, prior to the venue’s launch a few weeks ago. It was very loosely inspired by the Edwardian era, but used elements from throughout the early to mid-20th century, including the vintage wallpaper backdrop and glassware.
The beautifully detailed Charlotte Balbier dress (‘Cache’ from her new collection) was loaned by The Bridal Room, Broadway and really lent the timeless elegant touch to the whole day. The hair and make up (styled by Sandie Tozer and perfectly applied by Katie Bolton) were again inspired by Edwardian styles but updated to give a fresh modern touch that would appeal to brides looking to incorporate vintage elements. The gorgeous Rachel Simpson shoes (‘Ginger’ in silver) added the finishing touch to the whole bride’s look.
Elmore Court provided the picture-perfect setting for the shoot, as well as several of the historic pieces such as the oak chest and marble table. Both the interior and exterior of the house provide endless photographic opportunities, including all the beautiful flowers under the tree on the front lawn that carpeted the ground for us.
The exquisite jewellery, including the hairpieces, was designed and made by Jayne’s Vintage Paradise – reworking old pieces (a great way to incorporate heirloom pieces that maybe aren’t quite your style).
I love a big floral element in any wedding, and Stephanie Saunder’s designs were an intrinsic part of the vision for the whole day – the backdrop really came to life with the gorgeous flowers which included Amnesia and Majolica roses, Anemones, Hydrangeas, Stocks, Eustoma, Viburnham berries, beautiful soft green foliage and of course luscious bunches of red grapes.
The backdrop provided a focal point for the stunning dessert table by Cake sweet Cake which included not only a magnificently simple yet striking wedding cake, but chocolate cake pops, cameo shortbread biscuits, vanilla cupcakes with crystallised flowers, and Viennese whirls with blackberry jam filling.
The stationery range from Little Bird Weddings perfectly picked up the details of the rest of the shoot – with delicate lace and jute string touches. The vintage gold frame (from Lavender & Linen) really set off the table plan on the backdrop (the base of which was designed and built by prop-builder specialist Laurent Spiegelhalter, with vintage wallpaper designs by Kate of Lavender & Linen).
The vintage props from Lavender & Linen included vintage crystal and cut glass decanters, and crystal amethyst wine glasses – all shining elegantly as the sun set in the rough grass at the front of the house.
The Austin 6 vintage car from Richard Thorne Classic Cars looked rather fabulous parked up outside Elmore Court – and even had enough space inside for the incredible train on the dress (expertly modelled by Emily Iles). Instead of traditional ribboning we thought the car deserved a bouquet of her own!”
