Just look at those views. WOW. We are in Lancashire this afternoon for a super stylish yet relaxed celebration.
Jennifer and Lee were married on the 14th May 2016 at a church with family connections and hosted their reception in the Tithe Barn at Browsholme Hall. It was the only venue they viewed and you will see why when you clap your eyes on it’s magical vaulted beamed ceilings and stone walls. It made the perfect blank canvas for their simple and rustic décor which compromised of hessian, fairy lights and one uber gorgeous cake.
Jennier’s Watters gown was oh so dreamy, with it’s tulle skirt and blush sash, she looked utterly beautiful. Lee meanwhile opted for a grey check suit and knitted tie, which was a really handsome option. Enjoy lovelies.
Fairclough Photography, thank you so much for sharing these sensational shots with us.
THE PROPOSAL | We were in Miami on the balcony of our hotel overlooking the Miami skyline with a full moon in the sky.
THE VISION | We didn’t want a very formal or traditional wedding, we wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere that reflected our personalities. We wanted lots of personal touches so chose to make a lot of the wedding decorations ourselves.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | The planning seemed to flow fairly smoothly, once we had booked the church and the reception venue everything fell into place.
THE VENUE | We chose St Marys Church in Eccleston near Chorley for the ceremony, we are the 3rd generation from Jennifer’s family to get married there so it was a place close to our hearts. The reception was held at Browsholme Hall, in the Tithe Barn, It was the first and last venue we looked at during the wedding preparations, from the moment we saw it we fell in love with it and booked it there and then. From the gorgeous converted barn to the beautiful grounds that surround it, it was everything we dreamed of.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was a Watters dress from a local bridal shop in Chorley, Susan Craig Bridal. I also had a flower hair piece made by the amazing Folky Dokey, it was made out of dried flowers and helped add to the relaxed look I wanted.
FINDING THE DRESS | I knew I wanted something a bit different and not too traditional but I wanted to be open minded so I tried on a variety of different styles. I went to three bridal shops in total during the hunt for my dress. I had always loved Watters wedding dresses and when I found a local stockist I was very excited to try some on. When I found my dress I knew from the moment I tried it on it was the one! I also had some lace straps added to it which gave it a unique touch.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | We had Lee’s suit tailor made at Reiss, we had a consultation and there were so many options in creating his dream suit, we got to choose every detail from the fabric, buttons, lining, thread the cut of the suit and even had the option to have the date of the wedding embroidered inside the jacket.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | During the ceremony we had the Bible reading “Song of Solomon” that was read by my Auntie. My Sister also wrote us a poem which she read beautifully for us.
We didn’t hire a DJ or band for our wedding, we decided to make our own playlist and hired a sound system. We played all our favourite songs and got our guests to choose a song each on the RSVP’s so everyone had a song they loved and could dance to!
Our first dance was “That’s how strong my love is” by Otis Redding
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My Sister Charlotte and my best friend Natalie. We also had Lee’s cousin Daisy as our flower girl.
THE FLOWERS | We used a local florist in Eccleston near Chorley. We had ivory peonies, peach roses, thistles, and a selection of pretty ivory flowers for the bouquets. The button holes complimented the bouquets.
THE CAKE | We asked a friend of my mum to make the cake, she just does it as a hobby but she did such an amazing job! To carry on the relaxed theme of the wedding we had a Victoria sponge naked cake which Hollie decorated with pretty flowers.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer’s were the amazing Katie and James from Fairclough Photography! We met them at a wedding fair and fell in love with their beautiful relaxed style of photography. They have an amazing eye for detail and captured so many beautiful memories. They made us and our guests feel so relaxed and in doing so were able to capture so much emotion and atmosphere in the photos. We will treasure the photos forever.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We made a lot of the decorations ourselves as we wanted to make it personal to us. We decorated lots of glass jars for the table centre pieces which we had filled with flowers. We also had tea cups filled with wax which filled the barn with a beautiful fragrance. My amazing Dad made our ideas become a reality and made all the table numbers and seating plan! We didn’t want to go overboard with decoration and felt less was more. The setting itself was beautiful enough. For a little extra detail we asked Creative Cover Hire to hang fairy lights above the tables.
THE HONEYMOON | We went back to Miami for a few nights and then spent 4 nights in the Bahamas.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was amazing and more than we could ever have dreamed of. There are too many memorable moments to count! We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day which gave us the opportunity to have a little detour on the way to Browsholme Hall, we stopped on Jeffrey Hill in Clitheroe for some photos. The view was amazing and it was so nice to have a moment together alone after the ceremony to take it all in.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy every second of the planning and the wedding, make it personal to you and remember it’s your day so there are no do’s and don’ts, do what makes you both happy!
