A Vintage Tea Party Wedding

tea party yorkshire wedding

Jude and Mark were married in August at the beautiful Danby Castle, North Yorkshire and they had a vintage tea party package offered by the venue.

Jude wore a stunning vintage gown from Fur Coat No Knickers, and i just love her simple twist up do. A chic navy colour scheme ran through the day, from the groomsmen and bridesmaids to the fabric flowers, the details look just perfect.

Then they had a stroll through the heather… wow wee!

Thanks so much to the lovely Kari Bellamy Photography for sharing her images today, here is she had to say;

“Danby Castle was a really lovely venue, the weather was perfect, there was a nice yorkshire breeze. There were sheep crossing the road everywhere on the way there, and the heather was in full bloom. You couldn’t of asked for a more perfect weekend to have a wedding. Danby Castle is a bit half farm half caslte. There was a chicken with a baby chick that kept following each other around, an over protective rooster, a mule that looked bored, and cat that was a people whore. The castle itself is half in ruins, but what’s cool is it’s open to walk around, chillin’ out and talking on 13th century steps. The vibe throughout the whole day was just really nice and relaxed, very stress free wedding, which is just a nice change. It was probably one of my favorite weddings to photograph ever.”

As an extra treat i have the super sweet film of their wedding thanks TopRoom Wedding Videos… be sure to watch it below :-)

Names….  Jude and Mark

Wedding Date…. 18th August 2012

The Proposal…. October 2011 after parents evening and Mark had been away in Canada for 2 weeks, we had been together 11 years and never been apart that long.

The Vision for the day…. I found a venue in Yorkshire (where we both grew up) by searching on internet and Danby Castle offered a ‘vintage tea party’ package. This was a starting point for the whole theme

The Planning process…. With the help of my friend and bridesmaid Zoe Armstrong, who is a graphic designer in London,  we planned all table decorations and invitations were hand printed to her design.

The Venue… www.danbycastle.com in North Yorkshire

The Dress + Accessories….. Vintage wedding dress shop in Carnaby Steeet London http://www.furcoatnoknickers.co.uk

Finding the dress…. I tried on loads of dress on the high street, non quite right.  Then found vintage shop in London and the lovely ladies there helped me find the right dress and shoes!

Groom’s attire… Simple grey modern skinny suit with Peacock blue tie.

The Readings + Music…. We used the Amelie film soundtrack (French music)  Then for Entrance music I had an instrumental version of Blur universal (favourite song).

Beautiful bridesmaids….. 4 adults (Zoe, Claire, Sam and Kim) then two flower girls (Scarlett and Emily).

The Flowers… Innstyches an online shop from etsy.com  A lovely lady Jo who makes vintage fabric bouquets.  I had purple and while cotton magnolias.  She also made button holes and bridesmaids bouquets.

The Cake… Made by a family friend, along with 70 cupcakes.  They all had icing bunting and on top was a lego bride and groom!

Your Photographer…. Kari Bellamy, awesome!

The Details + Decor…. We had a vintage tea party lunch with cakes, sandwiches on cute stands.  There was tea and champagne and a love potion as welcome drink.  In the evening fish and chips were served.  perfect end to a perfect day.

Table decorations were mostly handmade by the bridesmaids, table numbers and paper hearts.

The Honeymoon…. We took a romantic drive around Iceland.  Organised through http://www.farmholidays.is  we spent 10 days climbing waterfalls, driving through lava fields, jumping in hot springs and I climbed a volcano on my 31st birthday!

Memorable moments… Our first dance.  Our friend Chris played an acoustic version of Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix (marks favourite song).

The walk with Photographer through the heather was very romantic

Advice for other couples… use your creative friends skills to save money and make the day very ‘you’.

Thanks so much to Jude and Mark for sharing their beautiful day with us today XOXO Lou
