Cosy Autumn Woodland Tipi Wedding Ideas

There is so much cosiness in this fabulous wedding ideas editorial today. HBA Photography used the early sunrise light and captured the models in the most dreamy way. I love the autumn colours and seasonal feel to the whole affair at Field and Forest Weddings, the setting was remarkably romantic and the tipis so magical. The willow arch draped in hops really makes the perfect backdrop to an outdoor ceremony or blessing, then there were the rich lush blooms and candle light adding warmth to the tables.

I do love a groom in a scarf and bride in a flower crown, the perfect combo, no? WWW Supplier Love faves David Boynton and Michael Mulholland were also involved on the day with the filming and entertainment. Enjoy it all folks…

“If you always thought that summer would yield the most beautiful wedding photographs, with the best light, I implore you to think again. Can you just take a moment to drink in this stunning early morning shoot in the woodlands at the Field and Forest Weddings site at Yoxall, through the ever creative lens of the mighty HBA Photography.

Now just so you know, this location is a real secret jewel in the Staffordshire crown, in mid spring the woodlands are literally flooded with bluebell in every single direction, but for the rest of the year it just sits quite peacefully ushering in and out the seasons away from prying eyes. And it’s because of its outstanding natural beauty that Dave and Charlotte Garner owners of Field and Forest weddings and custodians of the land, felt it could play host to a select number of weddings per year and that’s why we found ourselves on the site a few weeks ago at breaking dawn. The first priority was to shoot an autumnal wedding day. The second and most important was to welcome a whole host of potential festival wedding couples and their families onto the site to let them understand just what the Half Moon Field and its surrounding environment had to offer.

We had gathered in front of the tipis well before dawn in the hope of catching some sunrise shots with our couple for the day – models Rebecca and Steve. Sadly the breaking dawn shoot, in front of the tipis, was not to be as the sun rise didn’t really happen, it just spluttered a bit behind the clouds, and then it was light. Ahh well… but ever undeterred by inclement weather and killjoy clouds, Ben took our newly weds on a photo walk around the site and just look at the magic. And the light. It’s all about the light!”

“As the shoot and open event were in September it seemed a natural choice to create a woodland wedding festival, rich with Autumnal references. The season is so spectacular and has a wealth of interest through the changing face of nature. The quirky looking seed heads and gnarly gourds, the shiny conkers and the brittle orange leaves, the low moody sun and the long stretched shadows. You just have to embrace everything season has to offer. So with this in mind the scheme created was warm, inviting, with colour and texture being key.

The beautiful bride Rebecca wore the really amazing dress by Watters called “Vendela” from the lovely Phoebe at The Ivory Chapter, and wore her long hair loose with an autumnal flower crown of Eustoma and Mimosa. She also carried the mother of all bouquets. It was created with colour and texture being the key factors and saw King Protea teamed with ornamental Artichoke with brambles, wine and brown Eustoma and Dara Ammi. It was really quite the show piece! The gorgeous groom had the most simple but totally appropriate unripe bramble buttonhole, no frills, but so perfect.”

“Charlotte from the venue, was keen to keep an natural and organic feel inside the tipis, but mindful of the chance of a cooler day so wanted to make sure it felt as tempting as possible inside the tents. So the tables were lined with hessian runners, covered with mixed foliages, guilded gourds and mixed metallic votives. The cutlery was golden and every place setting had personalised menus, illustrated superbly by Hannah from Yellowstone Paperworks. The top table was also the key focal point so had a mix of growing designs, individual bottle bud vases and a host of different candles and votives, again finished with golden gourds and stunning stationery. There was also a feature foliage chandelier with a mix of hops and soft ruscus that was just right for the turning season and the harvest time for hops!”

“One of unique things about the site is the Blessing Circle and the dreamy woodland walk leading up to it. While you can’t marry officially at the site, celebrants are welcomed to perform really personal ceremonies. So on the approach to the circle there was a candle dell, then decorated over hanging trees with hoops, ribbons and lanterns. It was really rather lovely as you turned the corner and there were pops of colour and interest. There were also co-ordinating ribbons on the willow arch, and an accent of hops – just like the hoop in the tipi keeping the whole look consistent and considered.”

“Charlotte and Dave from the venue had already decided who they would like to join their crew to bring this first festival to life by early summer, and they really created a dream team. There was Hannah Bridge from Bake on cakes. Hannah Shuttleworth from Yellowstone Paperworks on stationery. Hannah and Ben HBA on photography. All crucial in helping to make the event look the way it did. But Dani from In My Life prop hire and Laura from Laura Loves also added their unique touches throughout the venue and location. The fabulous frame that held the seating plan was one of Laura’s amazing props and Dani’s brilliant palette star lit the bar area, and made sure everyone knew it was open for business!

After the shoot the gates were thrown open and festival go-ers were welcomed on to the site. It was the first time the site has been showcased as a wedding venue and the feedback was overwhelming good. For the real festival feel the fab entertainers and food trucks arrived, the lawn games were out and the bell tents were showcasing the notion of a super cute glamping village.
