Ella and Rob tied the knot at The Swan Hotel, Ulverston in the beautiful Lake District on 1st June 2017 and their day truly was a feast for the senses! Full to the brim with colour, love and laughter, you can just see how much fun everyone had.
With two little ones themselves, the wedding was family friendly and the children took on their roles beautifully. What a fabulous idea to have the page boy carry a balloon, and don’t they just all look the part in their wonderful outfits? The flower girls are simply adorable in their tulle dresses, ballet shoes and wands, cute! Ella’s gorgeous tea length dress is by Louise Bentley and isn’t her rose gold crown from What Katie Did Next just to die for?
The mismatched floral chairs in the barn set the tone for a colourful floral extravaganza! From the blooms and foliage in jars and bottles to Ella’s eye-catching bouquet filled with blousy peonies and roses, I love the jewel tones and the slightly wild, multicoloured look. Speaking of colour, don’t miss the incredible cheese cake.
Sally T Photography is the brilliant photographer behind these shots. Thank you very much for sharing them with us Sally.
THE PROPOSAL | Met 11 years ago,I had spent a year travelling Australia.Returned home with all the intentions to save up and go again, met Rob at work and never yet have returned to Oz! Engagement – under the Christmas tree on Christmas Day about 8 years ago!
THE VISION | We fell in love with The Swan, it’s a beautiful place and the decor is divine. The staff are all so friendly, especially Hannah and the wedding organisers.
We changed our choice in rooms for the Wedding breakfast a few weeks before the big day. Originally we wanted a blush and metallic theme, changing to the barn we decided to add more colour to the flowers to compliment this. Luckily our fabulous florist is a good friend and embraced the last minute challenge!
THE PLANNING PROCESS | I did 90% of the wedding planning on the internet, finding unique suppliers and ideas. Don’t know how people planned a wedding pre-Pinterest!
THE VENUE | The Swan Hotel Newby Bridge, Ulverston in the Lake District
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Louise Bentley, Lorenza. Shoes are Rachel Simpson Mimosas, headpiece is a handmade rose gold crown from What Katy Did Next.
FINDING THE DRESS | I stumbled across my dress by accident on instagram, being short I knew I wanted a tea length dress from the start. It is Louise Bentley, Lorenza dress from One fine day Bridal in Longton Lancashire, Claire is wonderful and made me feel relaxed straight away. It was a sample sale dress and once I saw it online I knew it was a bit of me!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Groom and Ushers all wore grey three piece suits from Greenwoods with simple but effective light grey ties.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Bridesmaids and flower girls all wore similar tulle style dresses. My sister, the maid of honour wore a dress from ASOS by needle and thread. Bridesmaids and flower girls wore dresses from Australian brand Tutu du Monde, with matching handmade star wands from Urbansno. Page boys wore shirts and shorts from H&M with matching dickie bows and braces from Etsy also with converse.
THE FLOWERS | Merci Bouquet by Andrea Chaney-Wallis – I adored the colours in the bouquet and how rich they were
THE CAKE | An absolutely unbelievable cheese cake by The Churchmouse at Barbon
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | I love a photo and believe you can never take enough, a Wedding photographer captures a moment forever that’s impossible to reproduce.Choosing the right photographer was a must and when a friend bought Sally to my attention on Facebook, Rob and I were sold. Sally’s photographs are naturally raw and real with a quirky twist and once we saw her stop motion videos we knew we had to have her! Can’t thank her enough.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Both Rob and I share a love for the same music, we wanted this to reflect our personalities on our day and stay true to ourselves. We had each table named after songs we love, and had a colourful floral theme running too. We chose a track by The Stone Roses called “Waterfall” for the Bride’s entrance. Our first dance was “If I had a gun” by Noel Gallagher sung by the fabulous Deadbeats who got the evening do rocking as they do best.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Sharing our day with our two children Sissy and Barney was a cherished moment and our nearest and dearest family and friends was to us was what mattered the most.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Things happen in life out of our control at the most unexpected moments, try not get to fixated on things being perfect on your day. What matters most is you get married with those you love around you x
