One big trend due for next year is a Great British throwback of timeless iconography and classical musicians at weddings. The full influence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding back in May is yet to take full effect, with many having already chosen their wedding entertainment for this year. However, next year will see a rise in classical choices as couples look to recreate that royal wedding atmosphere with acts such as choirs and cellists for their ceremony.
So should you consider classical themes for your wedding day? Well first let us clear up a modern myth. Classical wedding music does not have to be boring.
This is one of the biggest worries for couples when looking at classical wedding entertainment but it can often be quite the opposite! Most classical wedding acts can offer a modern twist in their repertoire to switch things up. Many couples will assume that those popular tunes will tick the box in keeping their guests happy. Whilst this is mostly true, it is how those well-known tracks are delivered and performed that can tap into something special and unique on your day.
Classical can mean a lot of things but it definitely aspires to the more traditional aspect of weddings. Think violins, string quartets, cellists, beautifully crafted acoustic guitars and towering harps. All of these are magnificent at adding a lovely layer of sophistication to any wedding. There is something quintessentially British about classical wedding entertainment and it’s varying degrees of beauty and class.
So when is the best time to have classical musicians? The ceremony can be quite a serious part of the day so having classical entertainment here can relax guests and set a beautiful scene immediately. Before the wedding ceremony, usually the guests are waiting for anything from 20-30 minutes. The last thing you want during the wait is an air of tension and nervous energy! Eliminate this with some live music and wonderful ambience.
Think about choosing your song to walk down the aisle to. Why not have classical musicians perform this live as you make your walk? Live music heightens the senses. The hairs on the back your neck will stand up once these musicians start to play as you make your walk! This is the moment you’ve dreamed about so your music should complement this in every way possible.
Your wedding ceremony is the perfect moment to add romance and will create an intimate vibe for the rest of the day too. Invite your guests along this journey and allow them to share this moment with you. These romantic classical choices can melt hearts and will sound so pure and at home in the right venue. Choirs and classical singers (especially singing acapella) will echo through the halls of a church or large ceremony space, providing an amazing spectacle and backdrop.
Reviving music that is centuries old for your special day is extremely memorable. These small touches of sound and imagery are what can set your wedding apart, making your day unique. If you’re not sure what songs you’d like your harpist, string quartet or classical guitarist to perform then we have some suggestions for you.
