This wedding today is just chic, in fact chic in every way. From the stylish grey frocks worn by the maids to the the delicate colour palette used in the florals and the swoon worthy paper goods.
WWW readers Gavin and Lauren were married on the 27th June 2015 at Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland. I adore the combo of old meets new at this wedding venue, with the white room for the ceremony and the rustic tipi for the party.
Lauren chose to wear the darling ‘Poppy’ by House of Mooshki which was just perfect for twirling and showing off her Rachel Simpson mint green heels. While the gents looked dapper in their checked suits and those gorgeous knitted ties.
Thanks so much to Helen Russell Photography for providing these exquisite images for us today.
THE PROPOSAL | Bethesda Fountain, Central Park, New York City.
THE VISION | Laid back enjoyable day with a rustic theme.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started planning straight after we got engaged. Looking for the venue we found the hardest, we wanted something that was different and totally WOW! We were so happy to find Brinkburn Priory, Northumberland. Everyone at Brinkburn Priory was so helpful with the whole planning process. Everything from then on kind of fell into place to create the most perfect day.
THE VENUE | Brinkburn Priory, Northumberland. This venue was out of this world, set in the middle of nowhere in Northumberland it was just totally breathtaking. The day we went to visit even just walking to the actual venue from the car park we knew it was the one! Right by the riverside, they use a teepee for the reception, and have a old refurbished stables building which is made into the main house where you can stay. We got married in The White Room, all white with a beautiful fire place at the front. We had all of our family and friends staying close by.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was called Poppy by House of Mooshki. Amazing dresses!
FINDING THE DRESS | It took me ages to find a dress that I felt comfortable in and that didn’t feel too much like a typical wedding dress. I stumbled across the tea length style dresses, then found House of Mooshki. They have the most amazing dresses and are based in the North East of England not far from where we live. I tried a couple styles on and the last dress I tried was Poppy! I totally fell in love with it.. and couldn’t have felt more amazing on the day!
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Gavin wore a suit from a shop called Woven, Durham. It was a dark blue suit with a checked design all over it. With a knitted woollen tie and tan brogues.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | I walked down the aisle to My Girl the Otis Redding version, We then had Lets Stay Together by Al Green for signing the register. And to walk back down the aisle we had Is This Love by Bob Marley.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Our bridesmaids had a darkish grey dress. I got them from a company called Pressed and Prom In Sherburn Village, Co Durham. They all looked soooooo beautiful!!
THE FLOWERS | Christine from Lavenders Blue florist, Morpeth. I wanted them to be very neutral colours light blush pinks and lots of nice green colours in. My bridesmaids had the same bouquet as mine but a smaller version. As the centre pieces of our tables we had jam jars with different flowers in. They looked stunning!
THE CAKE | Our cakes were made by Dawn from the Master Cakesmith, her cakes are delicious! It was do difficult to pick flavours as they were all so delicious. We had a four teir cake, Strawberry sponge, Chocolate Oreo, Carrot and Walnut and Lemon! Mmmm. She also did our favours including cupcakes for the ladies and bottles of Kraken Rum for the men.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Helen Russell was our photographer, someone I knew recommended Helen. , We had a look over her photos on her website and they were exactly what we wanted! Relaxed, natural shots. We met up with Helen at her home and arranged to do a pre wedding photo shoot. Helen made us feel very comfortable and made us laugh a lot!! Her photos throughout the day of our wedding just captured every amazing moment of the day and we couldn’t be happier with the photos!!
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Pinterest helped with ideas for the décor, In the white room I knew I wanted flowers hanging off the ends of the chairs in little jars, and all the centre pieces where done by Christine also, we had wooden logs with jars of flowers on them. The teepee already had twinkle lights which made it look amazing at night time!
The table plan was on a step ladder which was just outside of the teepee it had little jars of flowers going up with luggage labels of where everyone was sat.
Initiations, place names, table plans were all made by an amazing company I found on Not On The High Street called Feel Good Invites. They were so helpful! And I couldn’t have been happier with everything we got from them and would highly recommend!!
Our food was prepared by Wilkins Fine Dining and was exactly what we wanted. We had a Ham Hock Fritter starter, Chicken in a Madeira sauce with Bubble and Squeak and for dessert Chocolate Brownie and ice cream. We also later on had a hog roast. All the food was totally delicious!! And they even came the next day and did us an amazing BBQ!
We had live music from White Feathers which were an acoustic act, there was a female singer she had the most beautiful voice and an acoustic guitarist.
THE HONEYMOON | We went to New York, then flew to Barbados. Was just perfect!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | For me seeing my dad when walking down the stairs to meet him. Seeing Gav when I walked down the aisle. Announcing us husband and wife! The most amazing speeches from Gav and my Dad.
From Gav – Seeing Lauren walk down the aisle. Seeing all Family and Friends together. Being so nervous I put the ring on the wrong finger. The setting and the weather of the whole weekend.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try not to stress as much as I did planning it! Because no matter what everything will work out perfect! All of the stress just goes away on the day and is totally worth it!! Just enjoy your day and relaxxxxx!
