Striking, rich and bohemian wedding ideas for you today lovely readers. This wonderful shoot was set at Anchor Village in Clarion, Pennsylvania. The concept? Vintage circus meets boho gypsy, sounds pretty amazing right? That’s because it totally was.
Think dark and moody images with a divine colour palette of mint, mustard and burgundy featuring whimsical blooms and a show stopping dessert table. I really adore the bride and groom looks here too, with the bride in lace and dramatic make up and the groom donning a waistcoat and chinos combo. Be sure to keep an eye out for a gorgeous stationery suite, donuts and romantic candlelight too.
“When Alexa and Wes from Oakwood Photo + Video approached me about doing a styled shoot and gave me their initial thoughts and ideas, I was super excited by the vision that Alexa had in mind for this. She said that she was envisioning a boho gypsy vintage circus vibe and wanted to know what I thought. I do a TON of styled shoots so I’m always looking for something interesting and unique to where we can really play with different elements and so the thought of finding ways to marry these two concepts was really fun for me. To start, we needed the perfect venue for this… one that captured both the boho gypsy and the carnival circus vibe and Anchor Village ended up being the perfect match. The venue has just enough open wooded space, mixed with concrete paths and interesting character that we were able to shoot on different locations on the property to bring out both of those vibes and not have either one over power the other. When I’m doing a styled shoot (or a wedding for that matter) I want to make sure that I carry a theme cohesively throughout but not so much that it is overpowering. With this, there were two different themes to consider and with all the various elements, I think we really achieved what we were going for. When deciding on colour palette we knew we wanted to focus on bold edgy tones with teal as the main consistent colour throughout. To play off the boho gypsy vibe, we carefully chose the dress, the style and colours of floral, as well as the decorative items, furniture and various hanging elements to really capture that feel. To keep with the vintage look, we chose to use a wedding dress with intricate lace details and textures. The flowy sleeves added a little boho charm to the mix.
When choosing models for the shoot, we wanted to find a couple that had great chemistry together and a unique look to fit the style perfectly. The makeup by Dollfaced Gremlin tied in Aubrey’s look with a pop of lip colour and perfect vintage-style winged eyeliner. The rich, bold tones of the floral partnered with the coloured taper candles and mixed metals really made the tablescape pop and at the same time, the paper products softened it up and brought in a little bit of that vintage circus vibe. The canopy coupled with the hanging pendants brought a more whimsical boho feel, but again with the rich, bold colour palette we were able to stay to track with the overall vibe. To emphasise the vintage circus, we wanted to bring enough in so that you could see and feel it, but not so much that it felt like you were at a circus! We were able to do that through the smaller details such as the copper toned ferris wheel cupcake holder, the donuts as dessert and the vintage games. The paper products all designed by Fresh Cut Prints also played a huge role in tying in that vintage circus feel.”
