After spending a week at the beach on holiday in Woolcombe last week, I am certainly in the seaside holiday mood. Especially thanks to this glorious shoot brought to us by Sarah Hoyle Photography and a team of remarkably talented and creative wedding suppliers. This beautiful editorial was actually set at Frensham Ponds in Surrey, with a lake and sand surrounding it, giving the perfect backdrop to these boho inspired wedding ideas. There is much to take away from these wonderful images, from the colourful dried florals to the shell place names.
There is divine watercolour stationery, a ruffle ombre cake and a picnic set up of dreams all in sea foam blues. The bride and groom both looked wonderful, with on trend flowing dresses and a dapper braces and bow tie combo too. Do also keep an eye out for a stunning flower arch, stylish bridal accessories and tassel jacket just perfect for a boho look. Enjoy.
Boho Beach Wedding Ideas
The inspiration behind this shoot was to show how you can create a stylish, intimate, relaxed and bohemian wedding at the water’s edge. It was to be ethereal but edgy.
We used a really unique location in the heart of Surrey, just outside Farnham, called Frensham Ponds. It is a lake more than a pond! But has beautiful, natural golden sand surrounding it, just like a beach.
I knew I wanted the styling to have a very laid back vibe and include a wedding picnic for the couple and small number of guests. It would be a very intimate wedding, potentially even an elopement. The colours were to be very soft, some bleached out, and reflect the colours of a beach, the sky and the surrounding nature. So we went for dusky sea foam blues, whites and creams, soft pinks, greys and a light sand palette.
Texture wise everything was quite free and loose. The only structured element was the wooden backdrop frame, but that was softened with draped fabrics, tassels and flowers. The dresses were floaty and translucent but we also included dresses with layers of large motif lace to coincide with the more trendy boho feel. The ‘bride’ even wore a tasselled suede jacket and boots, cowboy esc as an edgy twist to the styling.
The picnic/table set up and the flowers all included dried or artificial flowers, grasses and foliage. Some were even made from wood, again to accentuate the natural feel of the shoot. The table was created from a wooden pallet and had lots of yummy layers of fabrics, textiles, wood, china and glass on it. Seating was a plush combination of cushions, rugs and furs. The whole scene screams-come sit and relax…eat, drink and have fun…the fairy lights that surround the setup also invite guests to stay til dark.
Our cake was really amazing, made with frills and gorgeous colours that merged from white down to deeper sea foam blue. Really fashionable, pretty and delicate. It was enhanced with an arrangement of artificial flowers, dried grasses and silvery foliage.
The ‘groom’ was also dressed in a laid back outfit of blue linen trousers, shirt with braces and a cute coordinating bow tie. He wore a hand tied buttonhole on his braces to match the bridal bouquet.
Our stationery reflected the sea and water feel as it used gorgeous blue watercolour accenting on the edges along with a delicate vellum overlay. The name places were so cute, hand-written calligraphy on capiz shells!
The whole feel of the shoot is quite dreamy and romantic with a few edgy fun elements thrown in!
