Goodness, what a special day I have to share, complete with a black and bright floral colour scheme – so pretty!
Yes, it’s time to share Reilly and Grant’s divine autumn wedding in North Carolina. Their day was fun, sun-drenched and completely personal to them. With gorgeous outfits, autumn blooms, a first look and a sparkler send-off, their day was absolutely magic.
Kasey Powell thank you so much for sharing these truly beautiful images with us.
I remember getting home from work and being in a bad mood and not wanting to do anything so after like an hour he somehow convinced me to leave the house and go for a walk.
I was still mad for whatever reason and after a bit of our walk he was like let’s sit and chill and I remember thinking like I just want to get this over with and go home. But we sat facing the ocean and started to watch the fog roll in and then that’s when he proposed!
Obviously, my mood made a complete 180 but it was so cute and he was so determined hahaha. I am the worst though I know Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge in Newport, RI is where we were! And my ring is from Anna Sheffield.
I know all I really wanted was to have black and super colorful flowers and then everything just kind of fell in place!
Shelley (our florist) really went above and beyond anything I could have imagined, I feel like she really understood what I was going for and 100% delivered. I felt like the tables/black were a statement but still very neutral for the flowers to shine and pull everything together.
It was somewhere in between $20,000-25,000 (rental stuff is not cheap lol).
The location of the wedding was at Fisher Farm, Jarvisburg, NC which is actually my grandparents’ house!!
My grandad has had that house/land in his family for over 100 years so I always imagined getting married there, I love all the trees and open fields which are so different from the beach.
All of the guys rented their outfits from Mens Warehouse and for the girls I found a dress and jumpsuit option on Lulus, I got my dress on Still White.
I left the majority of this up to my sister whose always been really good at playlists. I gave her the vibes/genres I wanted for each section like cocktail hour, dinner and then transitionary time between dinner and party.
Our first dance was All I Need by the Green, Grant is always my reggae concert date cause none of my friends will go with me lol and that song is just so sweet I love it.

Grant and his dad made our tables out of electrical spools. When we were little, my siblings and I would roll around on them out there all the time (still do sometimes lol).
All the bottles that held our flowers were found from walking around in the woods on the property. I made our own invitations and my mom made our cake.
Sooooo honeymoon we spent three months in French Polynesia, it is actual paradise and I need to go back as soon as possible.
We had been saving a bunch of money while Grant was getting his Masters (which is why we were in RI) and was planning on travelling as soon as he graduated (May 2020). Covid and the lockdowns and travel restrictions came and by then we already knew the wedding would be that October so we just waited things out and set up a travel honeymoon fund for the wedding.
I think by October/November we saw that FP was one of the only places with no restrictions at the time so we just booked our tickets and went for it!! We went all over Tahiti and went to Moorea, Huahine and Tikehau and did all the things – swim, surf, eat… We are definitely grateful for being able to do that and make those memories together.
By far my favorite part was our first look!! we both get overwhelmed pretty easily and with everything happening/certain times we needed to do things by leading up to everything starting was definitely a lot. But I just remember that part so clearly and feeling so calm and excited.
Those pictures of us walking away right after are definitely my favorite, they bring back all the feels. And then just having all of our closest friends and family around us was so special and we just had so much fun the whole night.
So much unsolicited advice gets thrown your way so just try to stay with what feels most authentic to you because that’s all that matters!! Mandy and her day-of coordination was also such a lifesaver, she had everything running sooo smoothly so would highly recommend.
So very beautiful!
Reilly and Grant thank you so much for sharing your amazing black floral wedding story.
