If you’re dreaming of balmy summer days, blissfully retreating to the warm countryside and marrying the love of your life, you are certainly in the right place today. We are thrilled to be sharing the divine nuptials of Banu and Ugur, which were held on the 21st May 2016 in the rolling countryside of Umbria, Italy.
The couple decided to brake away from hosting a traditional large Turkish wedding and opted for a paired back, simple, intimate day held in the Nikis Resort. It was all so very elegant, think whimsical greenery filled florals, an embellished Jenny Packham gown and alfresco dining to name a few. In fact the open air reception looked so idyllic, with scenic views and festoon lights draped from the trees twinkling as the sun set. I also love the calligraphy wooden signs with the loveliest indication of a relaxed, no formal seating plan, setting the atmosphere and tone to the celebrations that lay ahead.
Ed Peers, I cannot thank you enough for sharing these incredible images here with us.
From The Planners
THE PROPOSAL | Banu and Ugur met one year before the wedding, they fell in love immediately and decided to get married.
THE VISION | Jumping the family Turkish traditions, which are used to have huge weddings of a minimum of 300 guests, they chose to have a marriage only with intimate family and friends in the centre of Italy, close to Gubbio, a small town of Umbria.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | They were helped by Le Jour du Oui for the planning and the design of the event creating a team work with other vendors involved in a bespoke project.
THE VENUE | The venue, Nikis Resort, was a XII building completely restored respecting the ancient “pieve”, the little church decorated with Medieval frescos today not consacrated, but used for civil ceremonies.
Nikis Resort reflected perfectly the idea of the wedding. Surrounded by hills, a peaceful place full of Italian history created the perfect mood for an intimate wedding.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Jenny Packham was chosen for the precious wedding dress and headband. The dress was soft and floating, with small Swarovski embroidered on the fabric.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | He opted for a white blazer matched with blue trousers, shirt and tie (the Eryngium in the buttonhole was perfect!).
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Two of their best friends were the officiants for the ceremony so readings and texts were something true and emotional.
THE FLOWERS | Bouquet and flower compositions were made with David Austen roses, peonies, eryngium and eucalyptus.
THE CAKE | Naked cake with fresh strawberry
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Ed Peers, captured emotions through beautiful portraits and unforgettable details.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Banu and Ugur would like a simple but refined style to decorate both ceremony and reception areas: we used a white fireplace frame with crystal bottles and vases, peonies and eucalyptus and olive leaves all around. The unique and long table for the dinner created a cozy and intimate atmosphere: people enjoyed spending time there chatting and laughing. The table setting was made with vintage charger plates, silver cutlery and crystal glasses combined with olive leaves on the napkins and in the middle of the table a rough linen runner in the middle with geometric lanterns and candles. Wooden handmade signs were created for the menu and the table plan: no seating plan, but free and people really enjoyed the dinner chatting together and laughing. Hang up fairy lights and lanterns all around completed the setting.
THE HONEYMOON | They chose Italy, a tour of Umbria and other regions.
