You can really feel the love here today lovely readers. Just perfect for a new week here on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings me thinks.
Tommy and Jane tied the knot on the 30th July 2017 at The Tythe Barn in Oxfordshire. Their vision was to host a wedding which was a real get together for their nearest and dearest and to thank them for their support, isn’t that just lovely? They also hoped for a relaxed atmosphere with a Sunday roast, yum!
Words cannot describe how I much I love these stunning and emotive images by Jen Marino. I cannot thank Jen enough for sharing them with us today, the portraits in particular are just so touching to view. This couple have oodles of style and kept things super simple with fresh florals and a semi naked cake centrepiece. Also look out for the uber cute exit at the end of the day…
THE PROPOSAL | In an autumnal Vienna park last October.
THE VISION | A chance for family and friends to get together and for us to thank them for their support. A relaxed ceremony with personal touches and a proper Sunday lunch.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Very easy thanks to the Tythe Barn who thought of absolutely everything and guided us in choosing suppliers and making the day flow really smoothly.
THE VENUE | Tythe Barn, Bicester
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Woburn Bridal (dress)
Kelly Spence (accessories)
FINDING THE DRESS | Woburn Bridal was only the second dress shop I visited and gave me a better experience than I ever could have hoped for. Incredible staff and the most stunning dresses. I didn’t think I would ever find a dress so perfect that was so comfortable and easy to wear.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Hired through Moss Bros. Tommy wanted something informal which didn’t feel like a work suit.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Walked down the aisle to ‘That’s alright with me’ as this was the first song we heard straight after the proposal when we returned to our hotel bar. During the ceremony ‘It’s getting better’ because it describes our relationship perfectly and then we walked back down the aisle to ‘Perfect Fit’, which could not have been more appropriate, sunny and upbeat. All were performed by Gwyneth Herbert a really talented song writer with an incredible voice.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My little cousin Mia was a flower girl, unfortunately Tommy’s niece couldn’t join her as planned as she was poorly (and contagious!) with chicken pox.
THE FLOWERS | Chosen either because they were a favourite of someone who could not be with us or because they are a favourite of ours. They were full of colour and stunningly arranged thanks to Loraine from Wild Orchid.
THE CAKE | Salted caramel and banana, raspberry and white chocolate and zesty orange sponges; semi naked so not too formal for the setting. Lauren from All Cakes and Sizes makes cakes which taste as good as they look.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The wonderful Jen Marino who immediately understood exactly what we were looking for and was the consummate professional, putting us at ease on the day and producing beautiful photos, which hold better memories than we could ever have hoped for.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Very little décor was needed as the design of the barn really speaks for itself; it is a fantastic space. We were really pleased with the favours Willen Hospice provide in the form of lottery tickets for their draw that can be tailored and activity packs for the children.
THE HONEYMOON | A trip to the Lake District to enjoy the views, see family and eat a lot… Holbeck Ghyll was a particular favourite.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Our small ceremony with our lovely celebrant, Lynn Tierney, she put so much effort into getting to know us and created a unique and relaxed ceremony.
Being waved off for honeymoon by our friends and family, we felt so lucky to have them all there.
